12/12/2007 | Overdue. There was "Beatlemania", but not a British "invasion" until the DC5 came to America on the heels of the Beatles. They had a phenomenal number of hits, tv appearances and sold out concerts worldwide from 1964-1967. Younger people don't realize that it was the Beatles and DC5, not the Beatles and Stones who made the breakthrough for all the great bands from England who followed in the 60s. They were also one of the few bands who didn't copy the Beatles, using organ and saxophone and a driving drum beat to accentuate the vocals of Mike Smith, perhaps the most underrated singer in rock and roll. It's time to let em' in!

11/17/2007 | 3rd tier Brit Pop band, long after Deep Purple gets in, there might be a dank, dusty corner for the DC5.

09/29/2007 | Listen to 'Do You Love Me' and tell me it ain't better than the Contours (very good) version of the song. Or that 'I Like it Like That' by the DC5 doesn't rock more than Chris Kenners' recording of that great R&B cut. The reason all the 60's Hammond B3 keyboardists played while standing up was simply an homage to Mike Smith...(also one of the greatest vocalists in the history of R&R). Ask Paul Shaffer why HE never uses a stool or bench. Hope you are doing well, Mike...we're praying for you. The Dave Clark 5 belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Period.

08/16/2007 | Interesting because they actually finished ahead of Grandmaster Flash in last year's voting, but it was due to ballots that came in after the deadline, probably reflecting the wishes of a senior crowd that was a bit more Turtle-like in sending their votes to Cleveland.
And that's really the problem with the Hall right now, it needs a young nomination committee and younger, more knowledgeable voters, rather than old fogeys willing to throw in anyone who they own a vinyl from. The DC5 weren't awful, but they were hardly memorable or exceedingly influential. They could reasonably be listed on a Top 50 eligible artists not currently in the Hall, but they'd certainly be near the backend.

08/08/2007 | next to the beatles and the stones, they've had more top 40 hits in the US than any other british act in the 1960's, and more than the supremes, the four seasons and the beach boys COMBINED! whereas the beatles had the "mersey beat" sound, the DC5 had the "tottenham" sound: big beats, soulful vocal delivery, and what an upbeat production! probably the most underrated band ever right now. the DC5 aren't the only act the hall of fame has constantly ignored through the years, but they probably deserve it more than the other ignorees.

03/05/2007 | The DC5 should have gone in 1989. It is crazy when I see some of the people who have made it ahead of them.

02/13/2007 | ONCE AGAIN THE DC5 ARE OVERLOOKED BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN AS THE FIRST GROUP WHICH BEAT THE BEATLES AND KEPT THEIR IDENTITY AND NEVER TRIVIALIZED THEMSELVES WITH A REUNION WHEN IT WAS OVER... SO TELL ME WHO COULD NOT PUT THEM IN THE HALL...FOR THOSE DOUBTERS LISTEN TO THEIR MUSIC, HARMONY AND WITH THE SAX OF DENNY PAYTON, DAVES DRUMMING, RICKS BASS, LENNYS GUITAR AND OF COURSE MIKE SMITH...SO ANYWAY TOU WANT IT TO BE GLAD ALL OVER THAT THEY WERE OVER AND OVER AGAIN A GROUP WHO PUT TOGETHER THROUGH THEIR BITS AND PIECES BECAUSE I LIKED IT LIKE THAT AND IF THE HALL OF FAME VOTERS COULD CATCH THEM IF THEY CAN, WELL THEN THE DC5 AND EVERYBODY KNOWS WILL BE IN THE HALL OF FAME IN 2008, AND THANKS GUYS FOR GREAT THUMPIN AND PUMPIN ROCK AND ROLL THAT MADE ME GLAD ALL OVER...FRED

01/23/2007 | Wow What does it take.. How many Ed Sullivan appearances How many hits.. The Dave Clark Five should have been in the Rock in Roll Hall of fame twenty years ago..
Some of the classic early sixties rock songs Glad All Over, Cant you See She Mine and Because were all over the air waives How many arguments during the early sixties as who was better, the Beatles or the DC5.. Come on put them in From 1964 to 1967 this group rocked.. I understand that the times have changed and they did not.. but they had class and were a part of the early sixties that rocked with the Beatles, the Stones the Animals, and the Kinks
Next year put them in..

01/12/2007 | They were/are the most underated group to come out of England. I believe, at the height of their popularity, there were (And probably still are) alot of artists that were jealous of DAVE CLARK, for his business sense. I wonder if that is part of the problem. I've also read some where, that Eric Burdon was very jealous of MIKE SMITH'S singing ability. I know they didn't make it into the hall this yr, so next yr (2008).

12/26/2006 | Yes, the Dave Clark Five should be in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, it is long overdue. They had the right sound for the generation at the time. Rick, Lenny and Denny were great back up players in the group and you couldn't replace the strong vocals of Mike Smith and the leadership of Dave Clark himself. I think today 40 years later the group has a strong following around the world, and though their name is not found in conversations of today, they now have a strong underground presence. I have been a DC5 fan since they first arrived in North America.

07/26/2006 | Dave Clark 5 remind me of "Spinal Tap" in the early years - when they sing the song "Give Me Some Money"
