Fri Aug 05 2011Of course they deserve to be in the R&R Hall of Fame, but as a band? Maybe when they first started out, Heart was actually a band with the Wilson sisters fronting it but ever since they started turning out the hits, Heart has been Ann and Nancy and their backup band. I mean, can anyone name any of the other musicians in Heart (past or present), offhand?

Fri Aug 05 2011These turds go on about the way the male dominated music industry kept them down, yet they continue to prosper with their "unique" brand of "hard" rock. "We made it on talent", they'll tell you. Ugh, it sickens me. They're just crappy enough to be in the hall of fame.

Fri Jan 02 2009Nothing more than a trumped-up bar band with the gimmick of featuring a sister act up front. Nancy Wilson is a fine guitar player, but she diesn't rate with Liz Phair, Lita Ford or PJ Harvey. Ann could sing fairly well, but she's far, far from the greatest female rock and roll singer. They had three noteworthy songs in their canon, which isn't an astounding number, as many bands have more than that on a single album. Listen to their 70s music and you'll find it sounds very dated. Their later work is decidedly ho-hum. Heart, like Fleetwood Mac, was instantly passe and obsolete when punk rock came along, so the band had a useful shelf life of about three years.

Mon Jul 07 2008Like Led Zeppelin after sex change operations in the 70's, then had a sales slump before making a comeback in the mid 80's with generic, hard rock- connect the dots, MTV type hits...Nothing to get excited about, umm.... musically speaking.

Mon Jun 16 2008stole alot from certain groups that they loved in the 70's, and then became really lame and commercial in the 80's

Wed Dec 13 2006the only thing to separate this lot from the rest of the cack that was 70s/80s AOR was that they were fronted by two babes. listen to this stuff now and it has dated so badly.

Thu Nov 27 2008In their prime they looked better in tight pants and high heeled boots than the Eagles or the Doobie Brothers, but they were really just dependable hit makers who borrowed a riff from here and a lick from there and sold lots of records and concert tickets. I suppose there should be some recognition for being the only women to dare to rock between the era's of Janis Joplin and Chrissie Hynde. Their stock probably went up a bit by getting a song on Guitar Hero.

Tue Oct 23 2007I would say the most heavy rock oriented of the women led Classic Rock groups...catchy tunes that will not get on your nerves - too much.

Sat Jan 27 2007excellant band, but only once DEEP PURPLE gets in.

Tue May 30 2006Super group that should be in the top quartile of this listing. Obviously this is not a scientific poll.

Wed Apr 26 2006They get 3 stars for their 70's stuff, which was a great sound.(Dreamboat Annie a must have) They hit the 80's, though, and it turned to pop fluff which was too bad. Ann Wilson had some pipes and the two sisters harmonized so well together.

Thu Mar 23 2006You want to talk about some kick ass rockers? Nancy Wilson is the best female guitarist on the planet. Ann Wilson has a voice second to none. Together they both kicked down the door to the Rock and Roll Boys club and served notice. The can play it all. Beautiful ballads (Dreamboat Annie, Dog & Butterfly); Hard driving rock and roll (Barracuda), the most amazing cover of Led Zeppelin's Rock & Roll; and everything in between. How the Pretenders got in before them is beyond me since Chrissy Hynes isn't in the same class as either of the Wilson Sisters. If it weren't for Heart, the Pretenders might not be.

Fri Feb 24 2006Great band that was one of the first female hardrocking bands that attracted fans of hardrock, folk and pop, all at once.

Tue Feb 21 2006ANN WILSON IS THE BEST PERIOD.. THE VOICE OF A GODDESS,,,,, LOVE YOU ANN~!!!

Sat Feb 04 2006I just couldnt get into this group when it was on the charts. I can see why they were popular, but not my kind of music I guess.

Fri Jan 27 2006One of the definitive 80's rock bands.

Mon Jan 16 2006Like a lot of bands, Heart dragged down their reputation with some subpar releases late in their career, which caused a lot of people to forget their earlier work. But if the voters for the RRHall were true music historians, they'd be able to look past that and realize Heart's considerable influence on female singers and guitarists. Was Blondie that much better than Heart?

Tue Nov 29 2005I like heart, and am a fan of Maple Rock, but I gotta tell it like it is. No room for these gals until they let Purple in.
by djahuti
Mon Nov 28 2005Two ladies that can really rock. The singer has a great voice. Not something I'd want in my own collection-but they certainly deserve to be in the RnR.Hall of Fame.

Thu Oct 27 2005Heart in the day was good but suck now. Why they are on this list is beyond me. They are and never were Hard Rock or heavy metal. I have seen them twice, the first show was great but the last one totally sucked and I have had a hard time listening to them since. The Wilson sister need to hang it up.

Wed Oct 19 2005These guys (and gals) rocked in their heydey. Consistently good too. Sure, let em in.

Sat Sep 24 2005nance is one of the all time best acoustic guitar players around she is creative and Ann has a voice that few women in the rock field can stand with her ... she has gotten better with age too... very creative women duo and also amoung the bandmates they have become the band HEART totally now in 2000 era ...

Tue Jun 28 2005liked most everything they did

Wed May 18 2005They were decent in the 70's but most of their 80's stuff is forgettable. Though,I must confess to liking These Dreams. It's a guilty pleasure.

Thu Sep 02 2004I love Heart. I'm going to see them in concert in a couple of weeks. The great thing about them was that they were one of the first female bands to really rock!

Fri Jun 11 2004The rock incarnation of Heart was formed in Seattle with the intention of creating a female lead Led Zeppelin. While their noble attempt was admirable (but probably impossible), the band did succeed in creating their own niche as serious female hard rock musicians. Heart was able to combine driving harder tracks along with acoustic numbers that resulted in some of the better full-length releases of the late 1970's. Nowhere was this more evident than on their best (and debut) 1976 effort Dreamboat Annie. With songs like Magic Man and Crazy On You, the male dominated rock industry could no longer remark how cute it was to see women try to play harder rock and roll, as this was serious stuff coming from female songwriters and performers (though Anne and Nancy Wilson were the only two females in the group). On the softer side the Wilson sisters were able to pen excellent acoustic numbers (eg the title track) as balance, and some could be considered on par with similar songs by their m... Read more

Sat Jan 31 2004A couple girls don't make a top band. There is and always was a lot missing. They never went any better than they were as a Led Zeppelin cover band (that's how the started).
by jed1000
Mon Jan 12 2004These guys could really rock at one time. I especially like Magic Man, Crazy on You, and Barracuda. Ann Wilson's voice is distinctive and powerful.

Tue Sep 23 2003Just like Foreigner, Heart was very real and genuine. One of the few women rock bands that could literally rock a stadium full of people. They were so ahead of their time it wasn't even funny.

Mon Sep 22 2003Barracuda ROCKS!

Mon Sep 22 2003Heart is one of the best, hard-ass, kick ass bands from their era! I love listening to heart when driving on the road, epecially on ski trips. There is nothing better when you pull into a spot at Whistler, jump out of the truck, have all the doors open and having HEART just cranked on the pair of 12's!!! My personal favourite is Crazy on You, followed by Baracuda! I love the looks it gets you. ROCK ON and Take it Light!

Mon Aug 11 2003One of the greatest female led bands ever. I place them second to Doro Pesch in terms of talent.

Fri Jun 27 2003Ann Wilson voice is simply amazing, and her sister Nancy skillfully complements her on this group's very fine catalog. Vocals are a distinctive combination of rock and soul that can really soar. Blows today's wannabe ho's out of the water. "Crazy on You", "Alone" and "Stranded" are faves.

Mon Jun 09 2003Awesome group...great rockers from the seventies until now...Ann and Nancy Wilson rock!!!!

Fri Jan 03 2003A great band! The hard truth is that with the problems that Ann had with wieght and self esteem they could not hold it together. They simply were playing in an era where you could not pass of an obese chick as a front person! I saw them in there heyday and there is no dougbt these girls are the real thing. Musicianship, writing and no doubt vocals. Im glad to hear that she has lost weight and is making a comeback. Ill be wathing out for Ann & Nancy.

Tue Nov 26 2002My favorite rock band. Ann Wilson is on par with Aretha Franklin as a vocalist; yes, she is that good. She kicks butt over "Pariah Scary" or these other 90s girls. Her voice is better than Grace Slick's even. The songs are phenomenal at every phase of their career! "There's The Girl" has a great lead from Nancy too. A+++.
by jason1972
Fri Oct 25 2002Rock and Roll's true darlings: the Wilson sisters. Nancy's songwriting styles and oh, that voice on Ann! Truly a flawless voice and very sexy, too. Great music from 70s and 80s!
by classicmusiclo_ver
Wed Aug 28 2002Anne Wilson's voice is definitely not one you would ever forget. Very powerful singer, and the songs are filled with detailed imagery. Even the more recent albums were good.
by mmccracken
Sun Aug 11 2002They really changed the world with masterpieces like Baracuda. It may never be safe to go to the airwaves again...
by loneusfullhous_efan
Thu Aug 01 2002I didn't start to get into their music until they released 'All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You' (weird for me, considering the song is about adultery). Old Heart isn't too bad either. Anne Wilson is probably one of the few female singers who can scream her head off, YET IT STILL SOUNDS LIKE MUSIC!
