ItemImageSisters Ann and Nancy Wilson were the creative spark behind Heart, a hard rock group who initially found success in the mid-'70s, only to reach greater heights after engineering a major comeback a decade later. The daughters of a Marine Corps captain, Ann (born June 19, 1950) and Nancy (born March 16, 1954) grew up in both Southern California and Taiwan before the Wilson family settled in Seattle, WA. Throughout their formative years, both were interested in folk and pop ... Read More... at allmusic.com

Heart has a ton of great, catchy songs and proved girls can rock just as hard as the boys. They belong in the Hall.

The fact that women are generally underepresented in the HOF should be taken into account. But I never felt like anything groundbreaking was happening here. Ann Wilson could definitely sing, but I think Benatar, if we're looking at the period in question, was her equal. Prior to that era, we have Janis Joplin who was clearly a superior belter of the blues. Also, before Heart, there was another band fronted by two women, Joy of Cooking. They never achieved the popularity of Heart (although they received well-deserved critical acclaim), but Terry Garthwaite and Toni Brown were both fine singers, and Garthwaite was an excellent blues singer. Should they have had popular success? Find a copy of their album "Castles" and listen to "Let Love Carry You Along", then answer the previous question. If this sounds more like a vote for Joy of Cooking, so be it. If you vote big for Heart, do the same for J of K.

You can't really argue with a female guitarist that good...
And [I'm ashamed to admit] Crazy on You was one of my favourite songs until Guitar Hero ruined it...

Best female vocalist ever! Best female guitarist ever! Forced to make "Only" choice and change career directions by record label, they proceeded into mega-stardom only to feel void of their roots. Made very memorable pop hits in 80s. Returned to their roots, have never stopped touring or recording since (in 31 years). Their longevity and talent should speak for themselves. Why is there even a doubt in anyone's mind? Put them in immediately.

When Barracuda comes on your radio, do you automatically turn it up, all the way through the whole song? The answer is hell YES, and so put 'em in!

Longevity wise and for the fact that they were two women whose music kicked butt--and for Ann's voice--a big yes.

They had a lot of kick ass songs like, Barracud, Crazy on you, Magic man, Strong, strong wind, Straight on, ect.Their mix of blues, folks and hard rock made them one of the most easily recognizable bands in rock history. Great band, should be in no later than 2009.

You want to talk about some kick ass rockers? Nancy Wilson is the best female guitarist on the planet. Ann Wilson has a voice second to none. Together they both kicked down the door to the Rock and Roll Boys club and served notice. The can play it all. Beautiful ballads (Dreamboat Annie, Dog & Butterfly); Hard driving rock and roll (Barracuda), the most amazing cover of Led Zeppelin's Rock & Roll; and everything in between. How the Pretenders got in before them is beyond me since Chrissy Hynes isn't in the same class as either of the Wilson Sisters. If it weren't for Heart, the Pretenders might not be.

Great band that was one of the first female hardrocking bands that attracted fans of hardrock, folk and pop, all at once.

Like a lot of bands, Heart dragged down their reputation with some subpar releases late in their career, which caused a lot of people to forget their earlier work. But if the voters for the RRHall were true music historians, they'd be able to look past that and realize Heart's considerable influence on female singers and guitarists. Was Blondie that much better than Heart?

Along with Fleetwood Mac, this was the top female-driven band of the late 70's and early to mid-80's. Definitely a major influence in the rock world!

I enjoyed Heart...even went to see them in concert once in Passaic, NJ, way back in 1979 or 80. But Hall of Fame material? Not if entry into the Hall of Fame is to have any sort of substantial meaning or relevance. Look, Heart wrote some catchy, enjoyable pop songs, but there was precious little about them that was original or inspired or innovative. Basically, they were females channeling Led Zeppelin, who had spent their entire career channeling Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, etc.

Since day one, Nancy and Anne Wilson have been TRUE pioneers for women in Rock and for the NW scene. As a female NW rocker, I am forever in their debt. Their music has helped to shape Rock-n-Roll for a generation, and they are very deserving of a spot in the RnRHOF!

They had a great start, but ended up writing bad 80's songs for 20 years. With hits like Barracuda and Magic Man, they were a great 70's rock band. But does there output from the 80's nullify some of their accomplishments? Only time will tell.
