ItemImageWhile he was as innovative as Jimmy Page, as tasteful as Eric Clapton, and nearly as visionary as Jimi Hendrix, Jeff Beck never achieved the same commercial success as any of his contemporaries, primarily because of the haphazard way he approached his career. After Rod Stewart left the Jeff Beck Group in 1971, Beck never worked with a charismatic lead singer who could have helped sell his music to a wide audience. Furthermore, he was simply too idiosyncratic, moving from heavy ... Read More... at allmusic.com

Hi,
playing guitar for 40some years, half of them professional,
and knowing & adoring Jeff Becks music all my life,
there are only two questions remaining :

1. How come, he still isnt a member of the HOF ?

2. "Who else ?"

This is a no brainer. He has influenced every guitar player whether they know it or not. He always was, and continues to be , ahead of his time. He was the Yardbirds most important guitarist, Clapton left right away, they did most of their important work with Jeff Beck, Page came but it was done. That's not a knock on Clapton or Page. His only "mistake" was in not getting the right front man after Rod Stewart but we are talking Hall Of Fame here and not commercial issues. His instrumental work alone would be enough to make him a lock to get in. Just go and see him play today....he is in another league from everyone else.

The Hall isn't going to make the same mistake with Beck's solo career as they did with Clapton's. He could be a Sideman, but that's it.

He's already in for the Yardbirds. The rest of his career just doesn't deserve it. He was too busy living in the country working on vintage cars. Beck's Bolero is the greatest instrumental number in rock history, nonetheless.

He can still play circles around Eddie Van Halen. Just for sheer talent alone he should be in.

A crime not to be in already!! A master of guitar on the same page with Hendrix, Page and Clapton.
