Mayall has had a long career and played with many of the biggest names in Blues and Rock. While I don't pretend familiarity with his entire output, the recordings of his I own testify to his talent and deservedness of induction. His material ranges from searing electric blues to gorgeous and subtle acoustic tunes of the highest quality.I believe he,too,is still out playing in small venues.Catch him if you can.

I must agree with the previuos entry. Had Mayall's contribution been limited to just the album that featured Eric clapton on guitar (Bluesbreakers with Eric Clapton, 1965) his presense in the hall would have been justified (As the hall found to be the case with this years inclusion of the single album punk pioneers, The Sex Pistols.) With this album and a few short dates on tour, Clapton, the formerly monikered "Slow hand" was rechristened by his followers as "God." The album that followed (A Hard Road, 1967) saw Clapton's spot filled by the more than capable stylings of the great Peter Green. According to Irish blues great Gary Moore, (Who attended a Claptonless Mayall concert shortly after his departure) tough young Irish fans who stood staring daggers at the imposter in their midst were soon made converts by Green's staggering virtuosity for playing electric blues. Mayall's eye for talent was again in evidence when he replaced the departed Green (Who'd left taking Mick Fleetwood with him to become his own legend with the best of the British blues bands, his own ensemble group Fleetwood Mac.) with a very young, very talented Mick Taylor (Later to replace the late Brian Jones in the Rolling Stones.) Mayall was also a stopover for Harvey Mandel(Electric Flag) in addition to California's own blues master, unknown in America, but huge in Europe, Walter Trout. Mayall's eye for talent and position as principal for the world's foremost blue school leave him richly deserving of recognition by the hall. The story of British (and, by extension, American) blues would have been immeasurably altered were it not for the vision of this man.

John Mayall is the Father of all British Blues! His Bluesbreakers have included some of the finest guitar players in R&R history(Eric Clapton,Peter Green and Mick Taylor) At Age 70 he is still rockin as my own eyes can attest!!!!? Has the Queen Knighted John Mayall yet? Must have Bluesbreakers albums:Hard Road,Bare Wires, and the Beano album w/ Eric Clapton. Where would R&R be with John Mayall?
