Styx has been deserving of a spot in the rock and roll hall of fame for a while to me. They were the very first band to ever sell four platinum records in a row. They've also had one of the most successful tours in rock history. The Grand Illusion. And the music is really really good!
TraryMavers 10/27/2009
EQUINOX = 5* / CRYSTAL BALL = 4* / GRAND ILLUSION = 3* / Dennis DeYoung = 2*
LateAgain 09/20/2009
maybe, pretty solid body of work, better since they booted the guy who's light in his loafers
disgustingfats tupidsmellyugl ypig 09/07/2009
There is a line between good and great, talented and legendary...Styx didn't quite make it over that line into HOF company, IMO.
DaveDiamond 09/04/2009
STYX are OK
Sam.I.Am 08/10/2009
"Babe" almost killed their chances, but they've made up for it since.
STYXGUITARFAN 07/21/2009

These guys should already be in. NOT the freakshow they've become, either. Their classic lineup when most vocals were done by Dennis DeYoung and less Tommy Shaw.Ok, I just read the review that said Karma keeps these guys out until Dennis is back in. YES. I AGREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Your review made my day!*************************************************** ***************************GREAT muscianship, OUTSTANDING vocal performances, and just really talented songwriters. I refer to all albums done prior to Kilroy. Although Kilroy broke ground for it's time.... Their best songs tended to be album tracks, actually. In my mind, Melodic AOR with a progressive edge=Styx, and they were fantastic!
GuardianAngel 03/22/2009
pretty freakin' good band EQUINOX their best LP
jamespatrickjy 02/18/2009
James Young should get in, because he straight up rocked. The others, not so much.
faceman7381 12/30/2008
I have seent hem live 3 times, all be it not with the original line-up, but they do not belong in.
They were an average rock band like most arena rock bands of the 70s. See: Foreigner, Boston, Frampton etc.
MapleRock 05/26/2008
styx r 4 kidz
MadeInCanada 04/07/2008
good, not great
chrismin2003 03/13/2008
Karma will let them in when they let Dennis back in! ! ! Until then, Tommy and crew . . . . NO HALL FOR YOU! ! !
poopiman1011 12/06/2007
they had A#1 album and single as well as a bunch of either immortal Song(renegade too much time and lady) as well as highly played wtf arent they in
jgls 09/26/2007
i would support styx being admitted without dennis de young. his contributions to the band simply sucked.
dazedandconfus ed2 07/21/2007
Styx Stynks!
Jamie McBain 04/09/2007
Wow, the band that gave us Mr. Roboto, being inducted..... They are ok, but they probally won't be in there for quite awhile.
WuzUp 03/27/2007
2nd string band, in a league with Kansas, Foreigner. Won't happen for them.
marto 03/25/2007
yeah i guess so
killermckiller 03/23/2007
Why the hell are they any where near this list
coleslough 08/25/2006
3 chord band
deepdiver 06/24/2006
I contiue to be amazed by the utter ignorance of people who do not feel Styx belongs in the Hall of Fame.

If a group changes the way music is perceived, or introduces a new genre, or is even voted the most popular rock group of a year, or holds the record for 1st rock group to have 4 consecutive double platinum albums... should be in.
StaberDearth 03/13/2006
I was never ever a big Styx fan. Their music just plainly grated on me. The final straw was Roboto...annoying, petty, bloated, did I mention annoying? I'm sure there are those of you who would defend their right to be in the Hall though. I won't begrudge you that, look at some of the other questionable stuff that has been voted in and that which has never been considered. So how credible is the inductees forum? Not very in my book.
Habs10 03/13/2006
Tuff call, some great momenst and some not great. maybe after Deep Purple are honoured.
iamintheknow 02/21/2006
Styx quality of music got worse with each new album. If they had stopped recording after the Paradise Theatre album, I'd say they were borderline for the Hall. Now...
UrethraMiacin 01/28/2006
Mr Roboto alone should keep them banned for life.
ElvisC 12/04/2005
Styx, Journey, Kansas, REO etc -- No, No, No, No . . .
vwxg14a 10/26/2005
Mr. Roboto, Cleveland called, you are not getting in. WELCOME TO THE GRAND ILLUSION! Actually it was my favorite 8 track of all (Grand Illusion is).
raulo99 08/29/2005
A very professional group with greats songs, always diferent, always with something new, they play an open rock with energy, the music need more groups like STYX. Thanks STYX for the music, we allways with you. Give us more.
sfalconer 07/29/2005
The best known line up, Panzo, Panzo, DeYoung, Shaw and Young, is the band that should go into the hall fame. One of the best bands to hear live but I would not go to a show with out Dennis.
gowanshaw 07/28/2005
This band deserves the world, theyre a group of talented musicians that fit the criteria and love what they do.
STYX FANATIC 07/16/2005
Styx is incredible. They may not have been the first (YES I believe was before them), but they were very innovational with the keyboard and synthesizers...they definatley have their part in R&R history.
kingguiness 07/13/2005
I've grown to like Too Much Time On My Hands because the jabronies keep playingit on the bar jukebox but overall this band is a Joke! No way!
Redoedo 06/16/2005
Good band with above-average vocals and lyrics. Too Much Time on My Hands, Mr. Roboto and Come Sail Away are my top favorites.
madison18603 06/15/2005
Great band. Awesome music. Wonderful performance/concerts. They definately deserve a place in the hall of fame.
deves 05/18/2005
This Chicago band sure deserves a place in The Hall. What a band, the combination of vocals (Dennis DeYoung, the ballads - Tommy Shaw, the pop/rock songs & James Young, the rock songs) no wonder that Brian Wilson is a big fan of Styx. The Prog/Symfo/AOR music of Styx is timeless. They deserve their place but I think it's A Grand Illusion.
Dbaf 05/10/2005
queen wannabees but still desent don't deserve
doobiesNhof 04/25/2005
Deserving-yes. Will they be inducted-no. Corporate rock bands will never be recognized by the RRHF because the Hall is too political and conservative.
southparker9 04/19/2005
Not a great band in any stretch. They are one of the reasons people don't take music seriously. one of the cheesiest live rock bands. Even Shaw made fun when he left the group. I hope they never make it. And I actually have one of their cd's.
Melly7 04/13/2005
I've always believed that Styx was a band who made music that was ahead of its time. Their music is great, and the shows they put on are awesome! They've more than earned their place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!
usnidc 04/12/2005
Most underrated bands of all time. Great singers, great song writers and great musicians. Regardless of how you feel about the current line-up, this band still rocks and can actually sing and play real instruments.
Zan 04/12/2005
They had 4 triple platinum albums in a row and to this day, have one of the most loyal fan bases ever. Just because a few stuffed-shirts don't want to acknowledge Styx's achievements, doesn't mean they don't deserve the recognition.
lyndanoel 04/12/2005
They've earned it, they deserve it.
mansunx 04/07/2005
thats what made american rock in the 70s and early 80s suck in a big way...yak
mapiper 03/30/2005
Another cheesy band that appealed to mostly adolescent kids thinking they were so cool listening to a rock band. Yeah, I was one of those kids. Luckily I outgrew this trash and developed some taste.
