One of the finest and most under-rated singer/songwriters in rock history. His list of fans alone is staggering: Bob Dylan, Neil Young, The Everly Brother, Bruce Springsteen... How can some of rock's greatest songwriters be wrong? Quite simply, they aren't. Filled with a dark wit and a great sense of sarcasm, yet also quite tender and touching, all while never forgetting how to just balls out rock. Zevon is much more than just "Werewolves Of London", that's just his most famous song, but not even in the top 20 list of his best. He should be in for songs like "Lawyers Guns and Money" or "Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner" or "Detox Mansion" or "Keep Me In Your Heart". As a songwriter, of nothing else, this man deserves entry into the Hall.

Left us too soon. Might have felt induction wasn't such a great honor, but...

His one noteworthy song "Werewolves of London" (how did this crap ever become a hit?) makes me even less inclined to consider him HOF-worthy...

Anyone who thinks this guy is a one hit wonder ("Werewolves of London") undeserving of a place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame obviously has not been following his career. Warren Zevon influenced a great many other artists and also played in the one-off Hindu Love Gods with Mike Mills, Peter Buck, and Bill Berry of REM. Then there's his deep album cuts like "Lawyers Guns & Money", "Excitable Boy", and "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner" that get played on AOR stations with a fair amount of frequency. Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? Hell yeah!!

He should be in if only to satisfy those who have kinky tastes such as myself. Listen to "Mr. Bad Example," Hit Someone," "Carmelita," "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner." I won't bore you with more. You may hunt me down like a mad dingo!

He was very talented and clever. The body of his work may not be enough to get him into the HOF, but many of us hold his memory in our hearts and that is better. The world is always a lesser place when we lose a musical wiseass.

Very underrated songwriter. He also had a great voice who put out quality albums even while battling cancer. His last 3 albums were all written when he knew that his time was limited and they are all superb!

Not always the most successful but constantly colorful, Zevon was, up until his death, one of the most amaing songwriters of the last 30 some years. Simply look at who has covered his songs. Look at who came rushing in to be part of his last album. Look at who dove in to be part of his tribute album. Tell me he hasn't influenced a generation of songwriters. Has there been any member of the HoF to ever receive a personal letter on State Department letter head? Probably not.

WZ Posthumously deserevs to be in the Hall. A great writer. Lawyers Guns And Money is awesome! Plus he also played with my favorite band REM so he gets in based on that reason alone!

A lack of commercial success will keep him out, but on talent and influence he deserves to be in.

A Right-winged rocker. Just from that alone, worth nominating. The thing that holds him back, in my eyes, is that other than songs out of Excitable Boy, I don't know a single thing he did. But that was one damn good album.

I consider myself a very informed rock musician and historian so to speak. Warren is most famous for Werewolves of London which was kind of a 'cult hit' but he did record a lot of albums that I wasnt aware of. The fact that 5 out of 10 people I aask do not know the name tells me no on the hall of fame. His impact is just not known well enough.

i think Warren Zevon has all the necessary tools of a Dylan/Springsteen type, w/o having nearly the impact. this could affect him. that, and years of substance abuse that diminished his promising career. one heck of a comeback though, until the cancer got him. Don't smoke kids.
