09/30/2004 | The liberal democrat Bush really blew it here. How could he possibly think that INCREASING the federal contribution to education could possibly get him one single democrat to vote for him? Or that the rote ridicule of a republican president for any education initiative might lessen the liberal wailing about greedy republicans? Forget it. Eliminate the federal funding of education in your 2nd term and turn it all over to the states. Run up the white flag on this issue, they don't want the money.
