10/01/2004 | It isn't even relevant then. When was the last time they did this? A completely irrelevant organization, particularly so since the fall of the Soviet Union. Not concerned, in the least, about inhibiting terrorism, fighting genocide, controlling the proliferation of nuclear arms, advancing economic prosperity or reducing racial prejudice throughout the world. It has become a forum for small, corrupt despots and dictators to line their own pockets . . . and the US pays half of all its expenses, and acts as their host. What is wrong with this picture? The current horrific genocide in Rwanda couldn't even hold their attention. UPDATE: I, of course, meant to stipulate the current genocide in the Sudan, the Rwanda situation was another sad example.
