Don't want to pay taxes? Fine. Don't drive on the roads I pay for, walk on the sidewalks I pay for, play in the park I pay for, visit the library I pay for, use water from the system I pay for, or send your kids to the school I pay for either.

The United States of America has become the most powerfull nation in the world since we instituded the Income Tax. The progressive nature of the Income Tax, has people who benefit the most from our infrastructure, pay the most. It has made our middle class strong, yet our rich have not suffered so much as to snuff-out our economic engine. A low income person has to spend everything that they earn. In a Sales Tax only system, they would be taxed on their every dollar. Others who could afford to save would have many tax-free dollars. Our whole consumer based economy might collapse.
Most immportantly; corperations who move to that one building in the Cayman Islands would be taxed on any profit earned on our shores. No matter where their "headquarters" are.

National Sales tax, Get the tax money from EVERYONE! Too much slipping into the cracks in cash payments for earnings causing others who get it in the form of a pay CHECK to foot the tax bills. National Sales Tax then even the low life selling dope on the corner is now paying into the system with his money, right now he pays NOTHING.

I have written about this previously. The tax system needs to be scrapped for a national sales tax. The current system penalizes success, encourages the rich to sit on funds trapping them in the system and is only defended by those politicians who continually manipulate it and engage in tax rhetoric to empower themselves.

I would take all the tax laws that are now in place and replace it with a flat tax. It would not matter if you made twenty million or 2000 your income tax would be a percentage of what you grossed. No dodges no breaks and no exemptions. This would simplify the entire mind numbing process!

I would abolish the IRS, make income taxation unconstitutional, and incorporate balanced budgets into federal law. No more budget deficits, no more having use H&R Block to file taxes, and no more sleepless nights worrying about federal authorities freezing your bank account or repossessing your home. I would return more power to the states and local government and set a national sales tax. America used to be a tax-free country. That's probably the way it should be.

Have Congress impose a National Sales Tax, and then completely abolish all other taxes. The citizens can then see clearly how much of their income is going to the government and then they will understand how much truly needs to be spent. And it will keep politicians from spending most of their time thinking up sneaky new hidden taxes. It will also keep them from inventing endless new wasteful programs that are often just a way of buying votes for themselves.

Think of taxes as dues you pay to be part of a society that has a functioning infrastructure, and basic services that we ALL need at one time or another. I think taxes are about right where they are, though a little refinement from time to time is appropriate. Most people who complain about bureaucratic waste have never experienced the inner functionings of government and have no idea of the complexity of the management involved. Cutting the waste is a lovely phrase used to win elections, but not only is it harder than it looks, it usually is impossible --the damage you do causes OTHER expensive problems. Work in City or County goverment at a project manager level and you'll understand what I mean.

I don't really know much about taxes. In fact I know two things 1) as a 16 year old Canadian I am entitled to be re-embersed for everything that the government took from my pay check and that this will continue until I am 18. 2) there are alot of obscenely rich companies that get tons of tax breaks because of loop holes in tax laws. Number one only concerns me; however number two is a big problem. If I were to be president I would work on eliminating these loop holes. At first there would be many people , esp. smaller businesses, that would complain about this because those tax laws were made to make things easier for them. But by eliminating many of the tax law loop holes that are meant for those with a smaller income (the same loop holes that allow megacompanies to get big tax breaks) there would be a larger income from the megacompanies and I wouldn't need to have such high taxes for those with smaller incomes. As well I would change the tax laws surrounding money that is won. There would be a general tax on the prize before it is won rather than after, thus the sum of money advertised would be the sum of money awarded and no taxes would have to be paid on it afterwards.

Restart from scratch. Eliminate income taxes for those without full time jobs that they have kept at least six months and for those who are under the poverty level. Institute a crime tax where more money is taken from you the more you break the law. On the flipside, one would recieve a check for not breaking the law and making good grades in school.
