Professor Albus Dumbledore 4

Deep. Flawed. All heroes must have these traits as a minimum. Seamless transition by Michael Gambon following on from Richard Harris's start.

The character of Dumbledore has really been played very well. I don't think anyone else could have done a better job.

Since Dumbledore draws parallels with other wise teacher figures from examples of the hero's journey it's tempting to compare him to that particular mould however Dumbledore sticks around to train the hero for a lot longer before ultimately pushing up the daises. You really get the impression that this wizard is so powerful that there are none who match him, yet at the same time he also seems benevolent and hides this power well. What I like about this character is that he's the sort of teacher or headmaster you'd have wanted at school - he's one of the "cool" ones.

The man is a Legend!!

Right from the very first book I absolutely Loved the character of Dumbledore. He was kindly, wise, perceptive...and often completely barking mad! It is very easy to see his intelligence coupled with his somewhat 'wacky' sense of humour throughout the first three books, but- although we hear about him being 'the most powerful wizard of modern times- we don't really see this for ourselves until book 4. But when we do...wow! I wouldn't cross Dumbledore. I love the way that he manages to stay so calm, polite and curtious, whatever the situation- calmly calling Voldemort 'Tom' for example- Genius! When he does become angry, it is an anger that is all the more powerful for the fact that he doesn't need to shout or raise his voice; his presence is enough.

Was I somehwat disapointed about certain revelations about Dumbledore throughout book seven? Yes. But that I think is part of the brilliance of the writer. All the emotions that Harry went through regarding his feeligns towards Dumbledore I shared with him; literally underwent Harry's journey through- disapointment, betrayal, anger, pity and eventually understanding. In the end, somehow, I liked him even more for him not being 'perfect'.

I  used to love dumbledore. I am sad to say: it is no more. Upon reading the latest installment in the harry potter franchise (Deathly Hallows), I have discovered i hate the fuckin shit out of fuckin albus fuckin dumble-fuckin-dore. Because, he fuckin used harry his whole entire life. Harry thought dumbledore loved and cared for him. Ok ok...maybe dumbledore really DID care for him, whatever, but still he could have told harry that he was gonna have to die in the end. I mean, i kno harry DIDNT die, but before that, they all thought he WAS gonna die. so pretty much dumbledore used harry his whole life to just kill him, even though he didnt ultimately die. whatever but dumbledore seems to be kinda like tom riddle. He can charm anyone he pleases. i mean if someone used me my whole life i would say you fuckin cock-sucker dick-munching faggot! but no, dumbledore of course whittles it out at kings cross to harry that he is soo sooo sooooo sorry that he used harry or whatnot. whatever. fuckin ridiculous, harry should not have fallen for that shit and he should have said that dumbledore was an asshole for lying to him.

Albus Dumbledore Must Die...oh wait, he did. To be honest, Albus Dumbledore really bugs me.

First, he left a baby on a doorstep during the biggest war the world has ever seen...how stupid is that. He didn't even wait around to make sure the Dursley's found Harry, he just left him there with a note and went on his merry way.

Second, he actually left Harry with the Dursley's. I know there is the whole blood protection thing, but surley they would have been able to protect him some other way. Heck, he could have put Harry under the fidelus and been the secret keeper himself, but know, he left Harry with the abusive Dursleys and didn't even bother to check up on him!

Third, why didn't Sirius get a trial? At the time, Dumbledore had the most influence in the community and yet he couldn't even see to it that Sirius had a trial. No matter how guilty the person seems, they still deserve a trial.

Fourth, why did he send Harry back to the Dursleys after the fourth book. Voldemort has Harry's blood running through his veigns, so his excuse about the blood protection is null and void, yet he still sends Harry back to the Dursleys!

Fifth, why didn't Dumbledore just tell Harry his conserns about why he needed him to learn occulumency? Then, Harry would have known not to believe the visions and Sirius would still be alive!

Sixth, why in the Sixth book, is Dumbledore so willing to tell Harry all his secrets about Tom? Harry is still learning Occulumency and Voldemort can still get into his mind, yet Dumbledore decides to just let loose and tell him everything! Why?

Sorry for the rant...I just really hate Dumbledore!

Dumbledore is quite obviously the best character in the entire series. He knows what is going on, and Harry should trust his judgement of certain characters. I think that even though he was killed this won't be the last we hear from him.

Oh, I love Dumbledore! He's great, he's an old, wise, kind, and magically man. He is always there for Harry and he helps everyone out. He's like the wise old superhero, or something like that. More to the point, he's a great character and I was soo sad when he died in the sixth book, I cried. But Dumbledore is awesome, too bad he had to die.

He's wise in his years, and nice and caring to all his students and teachers. Kind of makes you wish he was your grandfather.

Albus Dumbledore is probably the best character in the Harry Potter series(But I must admit, I like Snape better). He's so unique and well designed by J. K. I hope he makes it through to the end of the last book. I would hate to see him die.

Professor Dumbledore is the reason so many people could go to that school. He is a funny, nice, sweet person who does make mistakes. He is a busy person but can always make time for students or teachers that need help.

Dumbledore really deserves a 5. He looks out for the students and uses his wisdom to help them as much as he can. He made mistakes that he admitted to in book 5 but it simply makes him a more well-rounded character to have flaws.

I think that the fact he did make a mistake in OotP, made him better. It shows he's human! He's great.

I was going to rate him a 4 at first, but on second thoughts, he deserves a 5. Sure, in OotP he actually admits to making mistakes (something that he didn't seem capable of up to book 4), but this only made him seem more human. Plus, the way he got Harry off at the hearing and 'confessed' to Umbridge, stunned her and her group, fought Voldemort...wow. Simply amazing. He definitely deserves a 5...
