 | xenei (0) 07/25/2007 | Minerva McGonagall may very well be my favorite, if not one of my favorite, characters in the book. I just love when she shows actual emotion!! Usually Professor McGonagall is very strict, but occasionally shows bravery especially when Harry is fighting Voldemort. She respects Dumbledore, even after his death, and is an amazing witch when she tries. She's a very good duelist, though being on the receiving end of four stunning spells in the fifth book didn't help all that much. She always cares about the students, and when Harry "died" her emotional side came out... She was against Umbridge, and made it very clear. She is very fair and doesn't favor her house (for she is the head of Gryffindor) and give them less of a punishment if they have broken rules. She's definitely one of my favorites, because even at her old age she still has a slight edge and it's almost funny how well JKR writes.

 | Sheela9 (4) 05/24/2007 | Minerva McGonagall is similar, though not the same, as a teacher I had in the 3rd grade. Teachers like that can be discouraging when they are sharp with students' imperfections. She doesn't build confidence, but she is intensely fair. In the 5th book, she made it clear to Umbridge she was on the student's side. That's the best thing a teacher can do.

 | rateitgal7 (0) 07/28/2005 | She's my absolute favorite teacher! I wish I had her as a teacher in real life! She's very diplomatic and fair. From the outside she looks grumpy and gruff, but on the inside she's a very nice, caring teacher, and she looks after the students like her children. She should be the role model of real life teachers.

 | Infairi (2) 06/22/2005 | McGonagall is one of J. K. Rowling's best made characters. She did such a good job of portraying her. She's one of my favorites.

 | deigratia22 (0) 02/12/2004 | I love Professor McGonagall, she's been my favourite teacher from the first book and she continues to be. The fifth book only made me like her even more. She's very wise and is strict but she's very fair too and that is a great combination.

 | Lothlorien (0) 08/07/2003 | A straight 5 is no less than she deserves! I love her, she's a great teacher, but moreover, I just adore the way she stands up to Umbridge, and is always on the students' side. I think my fave bit was when she gave Peeves some advice ("It unscrews the other way") on bothering Umbridge...awesome!!
