Draco Malfoy

Draco is the greasy stereotype of the typical bully. Every school has got to have one. In this case, it's a wealthy, pampered, mama's darling who-can-do-no-wrong! His father is a board member at the school, wealthy, and influential. His rich, beautiful mother spoils her precious baby. Draco's been spoiled rotten, has no respect for authority at school, looks to Pansy to stroke his ego, and smarms up to the meanest teacher in school who just happens to be his daddy's best friend and double agent for Voldemort and Dumbledore. Draco gets around, just like his father. It's the character everyone loves to hate!
On the other hand, his mother only loves him because her precious baby is a narcistic reflection of herself. She loves herself when she takes care of him. She can pretend to be a good mother. Sensing his mother's love isn't real, Draco disrespects her (and later Pansy) in the shop in book 6, "If you're wondering what that smell is, mother . . ." What a thing to say to your mother!
Then, Lucius senses the bond between mother and son and competes with him. He bullies Draco to keep them apart and keep Draco weak and intimidated. He also sees Draco as a growing version of himself, like his replacement. Eventually, Draco DID replace his father as Death Eater. Without Lucius in jail, Draco would never have had the chance to grow up, partially because his parents do everything for him and partially because his father doesn't want him to grow up. I almost feel sorry for Draco.
This kid I knew was similar to Draco in personality; he sassed back, started fights, eventually joined a gang and became a petty criminal. He also had his tender moments, but in the end, he chose to live without rules or morals. I think Draco has a similar fate.
I gave it 4 stars because he was an excellent villian. Tom Felton is a skilled actor.
