In reviewing (second-guessing) one of the most successful military incursions in American history, deco thinks there was a better way to do it. Please apply Monday morning at the State Department and go directly to Condi Rice's office. I'm sure she'd be interested in such military genius.

Afganistan could have been attacked better than it has been. Instead it was carpet bombed and thousands of innocent civillians died

I've been thinking. As of late, the attention in the middle est has fallen on iraq. Well, i believe afghanistan is indeed the epicenter of terrorism. I think their ideas spread to other middle east countries. If you recall, there was a war in the early 1980s between the afghans and the soviets. if you recall, us americans gave the afghans powerful weapons for combat, the type of whhich the middle east had not seen before. Now, of course, pretty much everyone in the middle east has machine guns, bombs, etc, but originally only afghanistan had them. Considering that, i think an argument could be made that any other place in the middle east that has advanced weaponry must have had some contact with the afghans in order to obtain said weapons for themelves. That is why i believe that aggressive anti american ideals began in afghanistan. I also believe that if we did something big to afghanistan, other countries would take a hint and back down. I think afghanistan should be the main priority.

I'm OK with it. The Taliban was harboring the group responsible for 9/11, and that made them accountable. We needed to send a message that regimes that harbor terrorists put themselves at risk - and we did that. By sending that message, I believe that we have made it more difficult to conduct an effective terrorist campaign (as EVERY regime wants to stay in power, above all else) and therefore made the world a safer place. It would have been nice if there was a reconstruction plan in place before the attack - but that simply wasn't a priority at the time.
