Like the Sirius Black character, suffers a little from under development by the author. But this could be intentional - he's so evil that we can't be allowed to know him too well?

I think J.K. Rowlings approach to writing for Voldemort was spot on. In all the best stories the villains seem more intense and evil the less we see them. Voldemort is always mentioned, not in name but by titles and phrases to show how much the people fear him. As is said in the books (paraphrased), fear of names leads to fearing the character and by the time we see Lord Voldemort in the flesh (I'm not counting Tom Riddle from book 2) we've already grown to hate him and in him killing Cedric we can see he is without mercy - he wants to rule the wizarding world and to make sure only "pure bloods" survive.

  He is a dictionary definition of evil.  Everything is all about power; that's how the world works.  Past this world, however, Voldemort is screwed!  He attempts to solve the problem by hiding bits of his soul all over the place so death can't take him where he needs to go.

I like how Voldemort, fearing death, has attempted to overcome it by putting on the Grim Reaper costume.  School pscyhologists say kids with a fear of vampires or robbers should put on, for example, a vampire costume on Halloween and be a vampire.  Oddly enough, this has helped children (age of 5) banish fears they have developed from watching a horror film or having a bad dream.  The children report not having that particular fear after wearing its costume.  It's funny; it looks like Voldemort is trying to do the same thing.

The Darth Maul of the Harry Potter series. A potentially very powerful villain, but let down by arrogance

i know hes a baddie but he doesnt annoy me as much as umbridge somehow. i reckon him and harry r both gonna die in book 7. he is a good character and as long as he doesnt hurt remus or tonks its all ok. :)

A bad person, yet an extremely terrifying and interesting villian. Keeps making you want to keep readin, or watching, because you'll never know what he'll do next.

He's soooooo cool! I seem to like the bad guys a lot! He's just such a great villian, he's so evil.You can just imagine how scary he'd be.Can't wait to see what he looks like in the 4th movie.
