06/01/2008 |  I have actually known or heard of people who have died because of a sudden freak accident. it sure gets spread around. a boy I knew was hanging out of a car trying to retrieve something, and the idiot kid who was driving took off and the boy got crushed between the car and a tree. He died within moments. sad, he was a good kid who made a mistake he did not get that second chance to be saved and survive. another neighbor i barely knew but had a reputation for being a bully was killed instantly on his job when the cherry picker he was in got to near some crane that was coming down and it crushed him. {hope I am not getting to depressing here} on a lighter note as for myself I have always tended to get sick in crazy weird ways I have joked that it would not surprise me if I died in an unexpected weird way too. {don't get me wrong, I am not actually laughing at incidents where people died in a freak way} I guess if I did die in a freaky, bizzare way. it would make for a lot of "did you hear what freaky way Molfan died stories.

03/27/2007 | It may be the best. The closest I ever came to death (so far) was a car accident in winter many years ago. My car unexpectedly swerved in front of an oncoming 18-wheeler, and as it bore down on me, there was no time for fear. I can remember thinking as I watched it loom up in my windshield, "This is it. I'm dead." Thankfully, I was wearing my seat-belt, and the truck driver had seen me in trouble and had slowed down in anticipation of my losing control. Although my car was destroyed, I was unharmed. It was moments later, as I walked up to a rest stop to call the police, that my knees buckled as reaction set in.
