Did more for the sport of boxing than any other boxer regardless of his personal beliefs. I don't get this one how he dishonored boxing! There's a reason he's called "The Greatest." His MSG bout with Frazier in 1971 was the biggest fight of all times bar none. The only reason people want to defame him is because he skipped the Vietnam war due to his religious beliefs and that's ironic. Everyone hates Muslims because they are supposedly all violent, animalistic, suicide bombers and now you have one that refused to pick up a gun and commit violent acts BECAUSE he's Muslim and everyone wants to condemn him for it. Only in this dying country called America would that hypocrisy make an iota of sense to people.

Yes, he dodged the draft, but now he's an American hero and possibly the best boxer of all time.

He evoked alot of hard feelings during the Viet Nam War era. And depending on your perspective, you might either love him or hate him for not being inducted into the service. However, he kept everything out of the ring and I don't believe he dishonored his sport at all.

I put him on here because some folks get pretty worked up about his statements and actions regarding Vietnam and the draft. Well, he didn't want to be draft eligible, which put him in the same category of thousands of other young men of his era. Some of them found exemptions, some of them went to war, some of them evaded the draft and some left the country. People make their choices, and I don't see how Clay/Ali's choice dishonored boxing in the slightest.

Does not belong on this list. One of the greatest fighters of his era.
