Yes, this was a classic. It will always be. With how much football has changed since then, it's like watching TV in the 60's. It will never be the same. The ice bowl impressed me because of not only great legendary players and of course the coaches, but the fans! OMG...dedicated or what?

This game had everything going for it to become a classic.Cowboys vs Packers, Lambeau field in the winter. Future legends played in this game. It is one for the ages.

The Ice Bowl, I was there, sitting on the top row of Lambeau stadium, and for a southern gal, it was cold beyond anything I had ever felt. If I recall the actual temperature on the field it was 13 degrees, without any wind chill factor. The heaters on the field didnt manage to keep the field from being frozen in spots. The greats were there Lombardi, Starr, Dandy Don Meredith. I believe I recall that Starr and Meredith had to wear gloves to even be able to hold the ball. This was a day of total drama. And I agree with the another poster, the magnificence, the drama, the excitement of this game proves how much as been lost since the advent of the dome stadium. The last 3 seconds of that game when Star went in on a quarter back sneak to win the game for Green Bay was just heart stopping. I have never since see such celebrating. It was as if everyone in Green Bay was downtown that night. Cars were parked everywhere, including in the middle of the main street! We walked into one night club, and Green Bay fans had found a pair of cow boy boots, and at the bar the boots were filled with beer! The Green Bay fans were calling it Dallas Blood. Many folks were drinking from these boots. Never has there been a game with the drama, the quality of the opponents, the challenge of the weather, and the last 3 second excitement, as the Ice Bowl of 1967.

It had it all: Lombardi, Frozen Tundra, Lambeau (not Lambert, Sen. Kerry) Field, Bart Starr, and a dramatic last second finish. When you see those old NFL Films of the game with John (The Voice of God) Facenda narrating, it gives football fans like me the chills. IOne movie critic compared the dramatic opening scene of Gladiator to The Ice Bowl. My observations of the game: 1) If you know anything about geography, Frozen Tundra is redundant. The land cannot be a tundra if it has thawed. 2) After beating Dallas, the Super Bowl in Miami against the overmatched Raiders must have been treated like a vacation bonus by the Packers. 3) Former MNF announcer Dandy Don Meredith was the QB for the Cowboys (In another irony, current MNF announcer John Madden was Head Coach of Oakland).

I don't think this game was up to the 1958 championship game because the conditions did not allow the teams to play at their best. The game was close and tense with each team rallying as in the '58 game, but I thought there was too much slipping and sliding about the ice.

Greatest ever. None other have been played under harsher conditions. And there was a storybook ending. Packers are champs at the last second.

This game is the reason why domes should be outlawed. Terrific drama. . .the young Cowboys versus Lombardi's Packers. The storylines about the coaches and the weather gives this game a Russian Novel element to it. . .
