Noblemen of the time had their personal "limonadiers" much as modern affluent Americans might have personal trainers. (Add picture)

Purging, today, is used for weight loss. It isn't healthy, but still many use it. Some people feel purging is the best way to lose fat, but it has never been proven to do so.

There are modern diet plans that effectively advocate this nonsense. Great idea, spending a part of your day with a tube of soapy water up your butt. Can't think of anything that would make me want to eat less.
