12/15/2005 | "The Playboy of the Western World" caused a riot in Dublin when it was first shown. Some felt it made the people look like superstitious and naive rustics. An excellent play dealing with misunderstanding and dashed hopes, the simple, Christlike, character Christy is totally misinterpreted by bored townspeople in a remote area.
