Iron Maiden is the best, you know? The songs are great, the band is is fantastic and they have millions of fans all over the world. They made such great songs like, "run to the hills, dance of death, iron maiden, running free, Hallowed be thy Name". And many, many more. VOTE for IRON MAIDEN!

Not only a major influence, but a band with musical and songwriting talent to boot. Took the "stage show" to a whole other level. Easily the best Heavy Metal band of the last 25 years, and directly responsible for Metallica, Megadeth, and the like.

Wow, I would have thought they were in already. These guys are true heavy metal gods.

Without them and Sabbath, "Heavy Metal" as a genre would not have thrived or evolved. Bands like Slipknot and Suicidal Tendencies owe part of their success to the doors that Maiden opened all those years ago.

Iron Maiden have sold more albums then ozzy and sabbath combined. Iron Maiden played in front of 50,000 in Sweden recently, sold out in less then 2 hours, all of there albums went back into the charts next day. They have influenced bands like metallica, and slayer. Played seven straight nights at radio music hall in new york in 85.

This Band has for almost 25 years contributed to the collection of Standard Rocksongs. Listen to "The Trooper", "Number of the Beast", "Flight Of Icarus", "Two minutes for Midnight", "Run to The Hills", "The Clairvoyant", "Can I Play with Madness" just to mention a couple of powerful songs. They made so many albums. Their live performances are still very strong. They inspired many new metalbands. This group goes on where bands are stopped. There influence is so big. They invented Heavy Metal!

These guys probably belong, but not until Judas is in and a host of others.

Maiden and Priest kick ass but for them and Motley Crue to be ahead of Metallica on this list of wanna - be's is ridiculous. Hetfield, Lars, Hammet and whatever bassist you wanna throw in there is way better than any 80's band.

Interestingly, these guys are bigger than sliced bread in Brazil - seriously, everywhere you go in the urban areas you see young people (and not-so-young) people wearing their t-shirts, etc. However this British band never quite broke the bigtime in the USA, or even close to being on par with Zepplin, Ozbourne, Mettalica and others in the hard rock/metallic vein. Worthy of inclusion but I don't think they'll get it - lest the vote is tallied in Sao Paulo!

One of the first Metal Bands I started listening to as a young kid. They are still one of my favorite bands.
