some great tunes, but let's get some classic rock bands (Deep Purple) in first!!!
fitman 06/16/2009
The Hall of Fame has little to do with Rock'n'Roll, and everything to do with Fame, so they should let these turkeys in!
ayn 06/16/2009
Whether or not you like Hair Bands, these guys should really be in. They have been entertaining millions with their music for a couple of decades now.
devasic1 04/23/2009
After Van Halen, these guys were the second most influential metal band of the 80s on a commercially oriented level. Way better then Bon Jovi and more groundbreaking (they put out their first three albums before Bon Jovi put out their first.) Despite taking a hit commercially in the 90s, they still tour to millions of fans and their 80s hits like Pour Some Sugar On Me are still loved by the current generation unlike Winger, Warrant and Ratt!
TRUNCH253 09/21/2008
No big deal. However, they HAVE gotten better (live) over the years.
regraft 09/21/2008
Good lord, the comments here are incredulous. You're mocking a guy for losing his arm? By the way, you freaks that dis Rick Allen have never heard him play. Joe Elliott said the biggest compliment he can give to him is that when he looks out at the audience, all he hears is a drummer. Whether you like them or not, they sold a ton of records, are still selling out concerts worldwide, and a hell of a lot of people think they are the greatest rock and roll band ever. Contrary to what you metal heads think, the majority of the country consider DL a ROCK band.
Kathy1962 05/11/2008
They worked all ther lives and deserve to be in this fine place
chris0122 01/10/2008
Awesome band. I cant believe they are not in. Also the people who are slaming them...your obviously deff or stupid or maby a combination.
Deniroe99 07/27/2007
Just saw a live show last night. They are great musicians, not just a "pop" band. They are a true example of how a rock band can make it through tough times and maintain a professional, creative relationship. Show was highlights of a great career!
JP1984 07/10/2007
Without a doubt! No Question! Def Leppard is hall of fame material. Anyone who knows and understands rock 'n' roll knows this. The band and their music have both evolved well over time. For me when I hear one of their tunes it always brings back great memories of the times and I am sure it does that for many others as well. When you think back to the early 80's Def Leppard always comes to mind. They have overcome a lot of obstacles for a band and still make music today. They can still put on a great live show as well. They have solidified their place in the hall hands down!
twistedsisterf an 04/15/2007
should be in
WuzUp 03/27/2007
nice band, but there are 10 others who should be in B4 Def.
popisdead 03/25/2007

raiderz 03/10/2007
Great band...not sure if they're Hall material. Yet.
ajowoods 02/21/2007
One of the better glam metal bands, but don't have a realistic shot unless Bon Jovi and Motley Crue (who each have better shots) get in.
BenGoodman1976 10/17/2006
No band sold as many albums or sold out as many stadiums & arenas as Def Leppard did during the 1980's. They were the hottest act next to Michael Jackson and with hit albums such as "Pyromania" "Hysteria" & "Adrenalized" they deserve to be inducted. Even today they are able to pack pavilions, arenas and sell out venues with a fan base of all ages.
Antonio14 06/04/2006
From here in the U.S.A. to my mates in England, Def Leppard is by far one of the best bands that has been around! If they hadnt of had such bad luck who knows what would have happened! They are whats great about Rock and Roll!
Def Cat 03/17/2006

abacab 01/16/2006
One of my favorite bands once upon a time. Are they Hall material? I'm not sure, but they were definitely superior to their hair-metal contemporaries such as Motley Crue and Poison. Def Leppard had/has genuine musical ability and at least deserve to be strongly considered.
Habs10 12/05/2005
nice band, but no.
LeppardFan4Lif e 10/22/2005
In my personal opinion, Def Leppard will ALWAYS be one of the greatest bands ever. Look at everything they have been through, losing a wonderful guitarist, Rick Allen (the drummer) losing his arm....they have been through pure h*ll and yet have remained together & continue to put out wonderful music. I first loved them when I was skating & heard the song "Rock Of Ages." I left the skating floor, went to the DJ & asked him what that song was & who sang it. I loved the sound & the voice. The next day, I went out & bought the Pyromania tape. I loved every bit of it. Of course, I had to get Hysteria when it came out & went and researched everything they had put out before Pyromania. Yes, they belong in the Rock & Roll hall of fame....not because I am one of their biggest fans, but because they are just that d*mn good. If someone says they don't like DL's newer stuff, they aren't a true fan. I have collected every cd & enjoy listening to all of it. Their music makes me feel good....even on my worst days. Lots of bands come & go. DL has never put on an "act." What you see is what you get from them. They all get along fine & work well together. That alone makes them a great band. Many bands have had problems with this person or that person....DL has never had that problem. Let's Get Rocked!!!!!!

Def Leppard have been my all-time favorite band for a year now and they will continue to be until the day I die! Def Leppard was one of the biggest bands in the 80's, and I truly believe that they deserve the right to be inducted into the Rock Hall. They were also one out of five bands to sell 10 million copies each from two of their albums. The other four to do this were Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, and The Eagles. They belong with the Legends because they are Legends!! No, there new stuff isn't great, and I personally don't prefer the material, but everything from On through the night all the way through Retroactive should definitely not be overlooked. I believe that they are also legendary because of their extremely talented, and quite overlooked guitarist, Steve Clark. I strongly feel, that because he was such a gifted songwriter, and knew how to orchestrate the music into something sensational, that that is why Def Leppard had such a multitude of success. I think after he died, they lost some of the spark. Still, their songs from the 80's and early 90's have been ingrained in the minds of many, and that is why I want Def Leppard(along with Steve Clark) to inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and sit beside the Legends to become Legends themselves.
souljunkie 08/25/2005
I have to admit, I was a big fan in the 80's. I saw the concert during the Hysteria tour, revolving stage etc..it was a great rock show. But When you compare them to other hall of famers there is something missing. I think what it is is the fact that they really had no deep success after those two great records. It was a pop metal sound that was popular in its time but not afterwards. They overcame some great obsticles, but the train got off the tracks after hysteria and never got back on. They just dont sound good at all now either. There was a time when they ruled the pop rock world, but They are not a hall of fame band.

Bill Haley and Elvis would roll over in their graves if this gaggle of losers got into the R&R Hall of Fame.

hi, I've been a Def Leppard fan since 87 when the Historya cd came out, plus I love their eariler stuff as well: it's been 25 years since they've been a very good rock band: I too feel that Def Leppard should be inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame: take care, and thank you: Shari East Petersburg, Pa
Vetisextreme 07/29/2005
One of the only rock bands of the 1980's who survived, and kept going into their prime.
kOrNfReAk2k4 07/15/2005
I can understand why the greatest rock band on plant earth are not in the hall of fame Def Leppard are still the best rock band out of the 80's with two killer albums Pyromania&Hysteria both sold 10 million with killer tunes like Hysteria, Rock of ages.all i have to say DefLeppard should be in the rock&roll hallafame,it's been 25 killer years for the greatest rock band ever keep on Rokkin'DEFLEPPARD your the best ever...
Michael625 07/14/2005
Def Leppard was the definitive band of the 80's. I can't understand why they haven't been added already. Nobody was as influencial, and inspiring to other bands during that era.
jagger7172 07/14/2005
puhhleezzzzz. Almost all songs sound alike and the only interesting thing about them is trying to figure out if it's a one arm or two arm song. They suck.
deflepchic 07/13/2005
It's about time that Def Leppards music get the reconisation it needs. They rock!
kingguiness 07/13/2005
Im shocked by these totally inaccurate statements! The Praise for this band is peculiar. They made some ok tunes in the early 80's. Pyromania was cool but after that their music just nosedived!
asande45 07/13/2005
One of the most consistent, fun and rocking bands ever. They should be in the Hall of Fame already.
Leppfan05 07/12/2005
I personally think that Def Leppard is the #1 rock and roll idols of 2005 and they rightfully deserve thier place in the Rock&Roll Hall Of Fame. Lynette

Def Leppard should have been in Hall Of Fame a long time ago.
Redoedo 05/11/2005
One of the best of all time, hands down.

Def leppard changed the face of rock and roll in the 80's when rock was no where to be found and carried into the 90's and are still rocking today despite all their many tragedies. They definantely deserve a spot in the hall of fame!
vanhalenrules 05/10/2005
These Guys have rocked for the last 25 years, they deserve to be inducted

deflepfan_4eve r 05/05/2005
i dont think there are anymore deserving people than def leppard to be inducted in the hall of fame. i have been a fan since i was in the 5th grade and i will always continue to be a fan no matter what. it would be so rewarding to see these 5 talented men make it and it would be awesome if more than just the fans recognize their worth.
dd1 05/05/2005
Deserve to be in R&R hall of fame. The only hard rock band to have 2 albums > 10 million sold. Certainly better than some inducted already. Secondly, change how 80's hard rock was produced and established hard rock with melodic tones.
PaDLFan 05/05/2005
5 of the most deserving men in rock. Many artists today have said these guys inspired them. How can that be denied!
