I walked in during the summer and people were trying to clean off all the equipment from the Kids Choice Awards so I didn't get to see the floor. But I did walk into the locker room and that was neat, although it was very small for a major D-1 program like UCLA.

I visited Pauley two years ago and came away impressed. It was off-season and there was an Archery competition going on inside. Still, the banners and being able to walk on the floor impressed me on what type of venue this must be when there is a game. I didnt realize the court was below ground level or that it is a lot bigger than it seems on TV. The UCLA campus is beautiful as well making this a place to walk up to. It loses a star for it's rather bland exterior.

Things I love about Pauley: The banners. Something's wrong with you if you don't get chills looking at the national championships that ring the building. No room for Final Fours or conference championships here, you have to win the whole thing to get props in Westwood. The setting. There's nothing like walking through Westwood, then onto campus, strolling by students on the intramural fields, and hearing the UCLA fight song that's piped through speakers of Pauley constantly. John Wooden. You will look to see if he's in his seat. You'll marvel at the endless line of people that want to shake his hand. The alumni gatherings before games. No school can match the former jocks and other notables who congregate before games. The names. Alcindor. Walton. Throw in Jackie Robinson just for grins. What I don't like: the building itself is a little sterile. The seats look like old, bad theater seats. If you try to sneak down to a better seat, ushers harrass you endlessly even though the building might be 1/4 full. Typical LA, front running fans.
