Excellent commentator who doesn't mind going against the grain. Smith's ascendancy has been one of the few exceptions to the recent ESPN policy of affirmative action for ex-athletes. A writer rather than an athlete, Smith confirms my sense that sportswriters are much more articulate than jocks -- which should be obvious but ESPN has been forgetting it lately.

He continues to get better each appearance on the show. He adds youth, a little hip-hop style and has good knowledge about just about all sports-related topics. Drink water.
