Andrea Palladio (1508-1580) was born Andrea di Pietro della Gondola in Padua, Italy. Inspired by the writings of Vitruvius, Palladio's style (termed “Palladian”) greatly reflects the classical Greco-Roman style which he admired. Appointed the architectural advisor to Venice, Palladio penned I Quattro Libri dell’ Architettura (“The Four Books of Architecture”) in 1570. Andrea Palladio's works include the “Il Redentore” and the “San Giorgio Maggiore”.
