Ah Ethelred, the Unready, a man after my own heart. There have been lots of times I haven't been ready and I always thought of good king Ethelred.

Sometimes improperly translated as unready the sobriquet actually means badly advised. A decent king in a difficult time who struggled with a series of invasions from Scandinavia while trying to preserve an increasingly weakened kingdom.
