Dick Vitale is the face of college basketball. Whether he annoys you or not, Dick knows more about the game and conveys it in a very media friendly way better than anyone. Also, Dick uses his celebrity to benefit others more than anyone I've seen in the world of sports. His work with the Jimmy V-fund shows the magnitude of selflessness and caring that he exhibits.

Sorry, when he's announcing a game I'll turn down the sound or look for another feed to find someone anyone else. He gives me a headache

One might think that I dislike Dicky because of his Dook obsession, but actually he raves on Carolina almost as much as them. So, that's not the case. I dislike him because he rambles about nonsense during the games. For instance, I don't give a sh%t who you played golf with last summer, can't you see Felton is about to do something! Here's a typical Dicky sentence, Great steal by Felton, ya know his dad is a great guy, speaking of great guys that Lute Olsen is one of the finer gentlemen in the game, boy his daughter is a great volleyball player, speaking of volleyball my granddaughter is getting into that, are their any bigger fans than Miss Judd in Lexington, boy Tubby is doing a great job with that program, speaking of great jobs how Bobby Lutes down in Charlotte, there's a careless turnover by Gilchrist. And by the time he's through, he's missed 5 or so minutes of the action. After a while, it just sounds like an annoying buzz in the background. Sometimes I even watch it on mute. However, to be fair, he does know the game. And I wish some of these high school kids would listen to him about going to school. We would have been undefeated last year if JR Smith and Dwight Howard had gone to school.

Dicky V should be on CBS for the tournament. I don't care if you keep Nantz and Packer or not, but this guy has to do the tourney and Final Four. He brings so much excitement to the game of basketball. Great ambassador for the game; truly cares about the kids.

He is a legend in college basketball, but I can see how fans may not like his bandwagoning.

Dick Vitale loves Duke...so i love him!!!

If their is any announcer who deserves to get five stars it would be Dick Vitale, and I'll tell you why. Not only is he a great basketball enthusiest, he also does many things outside of that to make college basketball better. He is a proud supported of the Jimmy V Cancer Foundation, and speaks many times to different crowds and raises money for cancer research in memory of his great friend, the late Jim Valvano. He also is a crowd enlightener. He helps bring student and citizens to the arena to support their teams. Vitale is also the most intresting commentator to listen to. He is well educated on college hoops, and shares it with the public on his website, and newcasts around the country. The only reason I give Vitale 4 stars is because I believe he is semi biased to Duke and I am a true blue UK fan.

I love him for his genuine enthusiam for the game. Kisses Duke's ass too much though.

Dick Vitale's style got tiresome rather quick, but he still is tolerable and tries to be entertaining. He even seems to make insightful comments on occasion. His biggest problem is a lack of objectivity (as another comment noted). No one needs to comment on Duke every game, especially when he is covering a game in which the Dookies are not playing.

Dukie V baby! The ACC is awesome baby. Coach K is the greatest baby! He's so played out it's funny. He doesn't have the guts to rip any of his boys around the country. Could barely bring himself to criticize Bobby Knight about anything.
