GT fans love it. Uga fans love to hate it.
Go Tech!

 | tcjack (0) 11/24/2006 | Totally different from your completely reworked SEC stadiums or your never updated ACC stadiums or you soup of the day NFL stadiums. This stadium is truly historic and recent upgrades make it confortable. It is definitely cozy and definitely loud.
The experience at night games is very nice. The Atlanta skyline in the background makes this venue a favorite for ESPN Thursday night games.

 | Jim316 (0) 11/17/2006 | Love Bobby Dodd Stadium. It's small (55,000) but then again so is GT (13,000). I've been to Athens too and hated the experience. I love to go to the Varsity for lunch and then walk to the game. Great atmosphere!

 | 1Dawgfan (0) 08/02/2006 | Yes BD@GF is a nice stadium in a great location... so why don't the fans take advantage of it huh? The fan base @ GT is horrible! I went to the '01 Peach Bowl in the Dome (walking dist. from the campus) and the stadium was 6/10 LSU fans, hmmm? GT does put up a good game when they play UGA most of the time though. I heard the reason there are never any sell-outs is because there is a weight limit to the addition at the N endzone. I guess Phillip Former won't be at any GT games anytime soon. Tradition, tradition, tradition... that's not every. You need a team that wins consistantly, you need fans to come out and support the jackets, you the noise & intimidation factor. I enjoy going to Sanford because the fans are so into the game. Players have nicknames and when they make a good play, the fans will chant his name (Musa Smith, Greg Blue). There are many great traditions in college fb, but Georgia's battle cry, when Glory Glory is played by horn b4 the game starts. GT fans are respectable and nice... but too nice.

 | yellowblooded (0) 05/05/2006 | One of the best atmospheres in college football. Especially on a crisp fall night with the Atlanta skyline lit up behind the stadium. The stands are so close to the field that night games can get LOUD! I've seen all the ACC stadiums, 8 of the SEC stadiums, and 3 PAC 10 stadiums. Bobby Dodd Stadium is unique. The $125 million renovation makes it the nicest stadium renovation behind UARK's that I've seen...

 | CaptainDawg02 (0) 08/22/2005 | Where do you start? The fact that this stadium at one time held 60,000, then after their co-national championship, they decided since they still could never consistently sell out a crowd and were in need of a good locker room and athletic house...they tore down 15,000 seats to bring their capacity down to 45,000. So, after that, the stadium still didn't sell out consistently, but with Tech's GREAT leadership...they thought it smart to add 10,000 more seats in one of the worst architectual add-on's in history!
I love the part where you are sitting under the upper deck on the east side and you have to stare at a pole the entire game because someone thought it smart to have vision blockers for the paying fans in their stadium. Also, does the stadium EVER get loud? Besides the few times they have home games against Georgia or Auburn...when they finally sell out their stadium, does this stadium ever get above a dull roar.
Last time I was there, they finally wised up and removed the caps from their 20 oz. bottles. At the Clemson game where Clemson came back and won in overtime with a Woody Dantzler sneak, here came the raining 20oz. bottles from the upper decks onto their OWN FAN'S heads!! Knocked this poor girl out! Then they started throwing their shakers and anything else out onto the field at their players and Clemson players. Talk about spoiled sports! Its not like they have a tradition of winning to boot...so go figure.
And lastly, when a school's every fight song consists, no matter WHO they are playing, with To Hell with Georgia or something to that nature...rings pathetic. Random cheers of What's the good word?...To hell with Georgia!...What do we do?...Piss on them! And they are talking about Georgia fans pissing from the upper decks at their stadium...riiiiiight.

 | RhodesScholar (0) 08/22/2005 | Looks much better than it did a few years ago. Sort of like washing a dirty face. Fans are extremely arrogant and irrational..........when they bother to show up. THE worst tailgating experience for me ever. One would think that an urban campus in a city like Atlanta would be nicer and cleaner. But it's perpetually cluttered with rubbish and panhandlers.

If you have a computer problem or if you want your computer fixed, go see a tech game. That is if you don't mind losing your cd player in your car and hearing I85 while the game is going on because the nerds are so quiet.

 | drchase (0) 08/18/2005 | Being a graduate of Virginia Tech while having majored in thier Agricultural Sciences degree program (with a minor in slash and burn agriculture), I would like to admit that Bobby Dodd stadium has better turf than Lane Stadium. The major reason being is that Bobby Dodd does not double as a horse barn like we have to do with Lane during the week when classes are in session. Most students ride thier horses to school at VT, while most students at GT stay on campus and dont need horses. The bleachers at Bobby Dodd are a little better than our outdated wooden ones (we have a bad termite problem). The fans seem a little upity, but other than that..I like the stadium and the fans. I like to also say here that there is one stadium in the East that I would like to see us at VT model our next stadium after. The stadium we aspire to have is one like at WVU. WVU has the ultimate stadium. We once sent a commission of engineers to talk with the good people at WVU to learn more about how to build such a nice stadium but had a hard time understanding the words they used (they were more than 4 letters long and did not include terms like tractor, haybailer, post hole digger or pitchfork). So needless to say the trip was all for not! Anyhow Bobby Dodd Stadium is nicer than Lane.

 | ACC Forever (0) 08/17/2005 | One of the ugliest football stadiums I've ever seen. Whoever designed the endzone addition must have been on crack. The most exciting moment is when the band plays the old budwiser song and the students go nuts (how sad is that?) The one thing that I did think was cool was the old tech tower... oh, the entrance with the old car was kind of cool...

 | theeckmaster (0) 08/17/2005 | Love the new additions, need more! Nice stadium in the middle of ATL. The fans aren't what I would call real college football fans, too preppy, to many traditions, especially within the greek system. Who wears a tie to a football game?! Is there a tailgate anywhere???

 | BristolHokie (0) 08/17/2005 | I was at Bobby Dodd last October for Virginia Tech's come-from-behind victory. No way, no how is this stadium the best/loudest/prettiest. No way. And the fans are not that great. They started pouring out of the stadium with 5 minutes still left in the game.

Also, jsut for note the 2003 Georgia- GT game at GT had more UGA fans thamn GT ummmmm HEY BUMBLEBEES..........THERES A THING CALLLED HOMEFIELD ADVANTAGE ANDMOST OF THE TIME IT HAPPENS AT YOUR HOMEFIELD. | operator 409 (7) 08/08/2005 | Have visited a few times even though I am not necessarily a Tech fan. Tech fans have the reputation of being reserved, but when the Jackets have an opponent on the ropes, apparently the place gets pretty loud. I say this because I have never seen college games played anywhere else, live or on TV, where the opposing QB had to back away from center because he could not hear his own signals as much as it occurs at this place. Maybe its the layout or the proximity of the fans, but it happens a lot. The parking situation is pretty bleak, but thats not what we are rating, is it? Overall a great experience.

 | LDD1222 (0) 08/06/2005 | The oldest and winningest college stadium in Div. 1-A, BDS@HGF proves that a facility doesn't have to be a symmetrically-designd mega stadium to be the best.
