 | SouthwestLuvr (0) 05/07/2007 | So many coffee snobs, too little taste. Who really cares what East Coasters or Europeans like to drink, especially the French?!? Coffee is so subjective, no wonder people actually like Starbucks, et al. When I want something weak and wimpy (and sometimes I do), I go to Starbucks. When I want something bold and strong, I go to Peet's, hands-down. There is no comparison, period.

 | crazyforpeets (0) 10/18/2006 | Been a Peets fan since my first visit to the Berkley loction in 1975. Have mail ordered Peets deliciously roasted beans ever since! Nothing (in Houston at least) comes close in my humble opinion. We take it with us when we travel. Major Dickenson's Blend is our favorite. I've never seen another coffee bean with the kind of roast Peets puts on their beans. Simply the best!!!

 | matthatter (0) 03/09/2006 | I can't believe anyone drinks anything else.
Addendum after revisiting my reviews: I can see why someone said my original review was "not helpful." I should say that Peet's Coffee is EXTREMELY strong... and that's the way I like it. Now that I'm on to Peet's, Starbuck's tastes like water.

 | Cerulean (0) 11/11/2004 | Yuk! I can't understand how all these people can pretend to like this stuff. The flash roasting process (roast at twice the temperature for less than half the time), that Mr. Peet adopted to save on his labor costs, is what makes his coffee taste so bad. Some of you may remember the ad campaign that Peet's put out to convince people that drinking robust, smoky (= nasty, burned) coffee was sophisticated and that those who drank normally roasted stuff were wimps. It would seem, from all these enthusiastic 5-stars, that he succeeded beyond his dreams.
A friend of mine took a pound of Peet's French roast back to France with him. It was universally pronounced undrinkable.

 | jae (0) 06/12/2004 | Coffee is generally good. Distribution system ensures that beans are fresh. However, may of these are inside Borders book shops. Borders doesn't do an adequate job of training barristas, coffee counters are always understaffed, and coffee drinks are overpriced compared to comperable chains.

 | Enkidu (38) 03/22/2004 | Superb coffee and tea and spices, lots of goofy people to look at, and a lot of first-rate (but overpriced) coffee paraphernalia for sale. Much better than a Starbucks.

 | Rumple (0) 06/03/2003 | If you don't know, you outta find out just what fresh, premium coffee tastes like.
Have had other coffee's from Kona, Carribou, Tully's and on, Peet's is my favorite for taste.
The locally made pastries are pretty good too--try the fruit bars (San Fran).
