Soap reviews. . .oh well- I'll try one.Years ago I had a serious but temporary medical problem. . .an unpleasant side effect (among many) was that different kids of soaps were making my skin break out in hives and make me itch like a Marine leaving a Thai brothel. My family was patient and CVS'd me six different brands to try out to find one (at least one) that didn't make me break out. . .Dove was the winner. Used it ever since - now that's brand loyalty. . .

For those of you with sensitive skin, this family of products is for you! Dove promotes a product with no irritants! My parents raised me using this soap, so I speak from experience when I say that their claim is true!

Dove is hypo-allergenic and great for sensitive skin. It is doctor-recommended and can be used on any part of the body, including the face so it is great to take on a vacation because it's all you need to stay clean! I like the fragrance-free sensitive skin beauty bar as well as their fragrance-free moisturizing deodorant.

I'm man enough to say that I use Dove for Sensitive Skin.
Spike65 10/10/2008
I use the Dove un-scented bath bar soap. It is one of the best soaps for people that can have allergic reactions to most soaps on the market. It makes lots of lather and rinses off quite well. The only downside is cost and it gets used up rather quickly. I have also used the body wash liquid and prefer the bar soap.
susankk 01/04/2008
I received some of of this Dove body wash from a friend , and it really does a great job of keeping my skin moist during the winter. Smells wonderful in the cherry almond scent. I think I still prefer the soap version though.... the soap is just easier and faster to apply and rinse off.

I want my Dove Nutrium Bar soap back..why did they change it? The new cream oil Nutrium barely lathers and feels like there's a film left on my skin..not to mention my shower walls...yuck! I'm really choked..can you tell....? Anyone know of another bar soap that's like the old nutrium?
lucy2 09/09/2007
Good, basic, cleans and doesn't dry.
sarahz 08/30/2007
I got this product ( dove cream oil body wash-delicate) into my eye and had a horrible reaction because the "oil" in this product could not easily be rinsed out of my eye properly. This later resulted to a trip to the doctor for an antibacterial creame. I DO NOT recommend this product to be used anywhere near your eyes. The bottle does not say opthamologist tested. I have been a dove user for over 15 years and never had any previous problems.
annalouise 08/16/2007
I use the soap and bodywash.I would recommend these products to anyone.the smell great and are soft and moisturizing on your skin.
Pfenix 06/30/2007
it cleans good lather need to moisturize after always
reececup 05/02/2006
Dove Nutrium is absolutely the very best bath bar on the market. My only fear is that they will discontinue it or change the formula..something that seems to happen to everything I happen to be loyal to... its my curse..
Spot7Zero2 03/15/2006
I use the bar soap for sensitive skin. It's the only soap I've found that does the least amount of damage in terms of drying out my skin.
asianchick_04 12/10/2005
Dove is the best soap for people who have extremely dry or sensitive skin - or both. I've used Dove soap my entire life (24 years) original bar, unscented bar, and body wash. I will never use another soap! I tried caress which is made by the same company and it made me itch. My skin is extremely sensitive and dove is the only soap that doesn't give me a rash. Plus all of my boyfriends through out the years have commented on the fact that my skin is as soft as a baby's bottom and I don't even use lotion. DOVE ROCKS!

Ive been using dove for over 25 years now since a little girl to mom/wife now, and i always have been using it faithfully, although, ive tried caress, oil of olay, they are great also, but i seem to love my dove bar soap, ive tried nutrium, the pink dove and the body wash of nutrium, and the cucumber with green tea cool moisture body wash, they are all great!! I would highly recommend dove bar soap forever!!!!! the reason why is, it moisturizes perfectly, not drying, smells wonderful, and doesnt clog your skin, and it made my complexion acne free all my years of life!! Dove is my #1 choice of soap!!One bar soap of dove that I HATE IS THE exfoliating, this exfoliating it dries my skin and i feel itchy with this soap, and it feels like clay im rubbing on my body, i hate that dove exfoliating, But the other dove bars are Wonderful for me!!!!
wetsack 06/27/2005
I am reallly glad I found this product. It's great for my dry skin in the winter, and great for my sunburn in the summer, hey, and if I smell like a girl at least I can turn myself on.
ryinthesky9 05/14/2005
Dove is great for a drugstore soap. Great value, good product.
angelic_one200 2 02/23/2005
Dove is by far the mildest, best-lathering soap made. It is the least irritating, too.
midwesterner19 02/04/2005
A little expensive compared to other national brands. The quality of the soap is good and it makes your skin feel good. I especially, like the new soap with the crystals on it.
ass47b 12/21/2004
PINK DOVE is so gentle. It does not dry me out like some soaps like Dial or Zest do.
dragonman 10/25/2004
It gets stars for being mild but this soap is suited more towards the ladies.
mahogany 09/12/2004
Dove makes my skin SO soft and lovely. Also, it is a great soap to lather up your legs with before you shave.
Blooeyz2001 08/03/2004
Dove For Sensitive Skin is the best soap ever!
dahiana72 07/26/2004
its the only one that i like it, i dont like bar soap but this one its the exepcion! great!
tiger lily 06/25/2004
I find this soap to be the least irritating on my skin, and it has a very subtle rose scent. The only problem is you may not get as much uses out of it compared to other soaps--it disintegrates too fast.
CollegeGirl7 06/24/2004
Great-smelling and definitely leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. However, I don't recommend using it on your face. I was told that if you ever use bar soap on your face, you should use Dove or Caress...but it made me break out...so I use Zest--even though I know it's a big no no. Zest works for me, so I don't mind using bar soap on my face.
dahkoolchik 05/19/2004
I have always used this soap in my home and its very mild, yet cleansing, and moisturizing. Whenever I have to use other soaps for my hands it leaves an icky, different feeling. Dove it is.
f8ldzz 02/25/2004
This is not soap; it still leaves me feeling slimy after taking a bath! Original is heavily scented, and it's more tilted toward use by women.
warmTape 01/31/2004
I love Dove soap. Even though i prefer the smell of the original scented bar, I use the unscented, sensitive skin variety. I have dry, sensitive, acne-prone skin. I was skeptical at first about using this for my face because i thought it would clog my pores but i did some research and, turns out, its hypoallergenic and noncomedogenic. I've been using it just for my face for around 4 months and its so much better than any harsh acne cleanser. Cheap too! I got a two pack in October for around $2 and each bar lasts at least 2 months. Great product.

I have eczema so my doctor told me to use dove, I've been using it since I was 6 years old. I like dove, it's really good for senstive skin, even the scented one.
Irene115 09/12/2003
I've used some version of Dove soap all my life. Deoderant soaps strip my skin and make me itch. Body washes don't lather well and don't rinse well so I stick with bar soap. The new Dove Exfoliating has a wonderful, soft scent, not as perfumey as original Dove. I also like Dove Nutrium very well. Sometimes if I want a change I substitute Oil of Olay soap..same feeling, soft and smooth, not dry.
Ratetor 06/05/2003
I developed a sensitivity to Dove that manifested as a red itchy dryness on the head of my penis and the inside of my foreskin. I thought I had some kind of crazy fungal infection. I haven't tryed the hypoallergenic variety.
carenab 05/20/2003
I have sensitive skin. This doesn't irritate my skin like most soaps do. I have to use the scent free version. However, this soap is a distant second to my all time favorite soap, Kirk's Castile. Kirk's rinses off much better and therefore makes me feel cleaner, yet still doesn't dry out or irritate my skin.
kamylienne 05/13/2003
Nice, moisturizing bar of soap, very gentle, but it's best to keep it out of the dish soap and onto something that'll allow it to drain properly--it tends to disintegrate if left in water.
starla71 03/26/2003
SOAP of the GODS! Smells good/works good-even for my eczemaed sensitive skin. Never harsh, very nice to even shave with, there is no other. KEEP OUT OF THE RUNNING WATER or it melts cuz it is so creamy! I found the best way to keep it is in a suction cup soap holder (at druggist for $2) away from the stream. Sometimes on lucj you can get a sixpak at the Dollar stores for like 3 bucks! DOVE rules!
philc 03/22/2003
This is a luxury soap - very creamy and good smelling. I like it a lot.
CaNaDiAn GuRl 03/15/2003
i use it all the time and it does the job.
DenisesBiz 02/27/2003
Dove for sensitive skin beauty bar is great for your face but if you have really dirty hands forget it. The moisturizing lotion in the bar clings to your hands and when you dry your hands the dirt transfers to the towel you're drying your hands on. I did experiment with 4 bars of soap and this was rated #4 out of the 4.
brownin 02/09/2003
My all time favorite..Dove White Scented. It makes my skin feel so soft and silky. In addition to smelling great, it is gentle and a great moisturizing soap in that it does not leave your skin feeling taut and dry.
hmmtasty 01/19/2003
i have really sensitive skin.this is the only soap that does not break me out and gives me the benefit of beutiful, soft, skin.i put mine on a drying rack so it never gets mushy.
cherryicecream smile 01/09/2003
I have used Dove since the day I was born, and I think that it is a wonderful product. So much so that I refuse to use any other bar soap. It keeps my skin soft and moisturized. Although I am disapointed that they changed the scent.
maladami 12/18/2002
My grandmother used this and she had beautiful shin. I use it now - love the smell of the 'unscented' bar. I use it on face and body. Does not dry out skin. The bottom of the bar gets real mushy. I think it needs to be on a drying rack or something inbetween uses. I gave it a 4 because of the mushiness, otherwise, it would be a 5.
musica8877 11/13/2002
I have used Dove since I was a kid. I love it and will never use any other bar soap.
Rasyidi 08/30/2002
Very mild, moisturizing and good smell. One of friend uses this soap to wash his face, and to be true, his face looks quite nice, moisturized and looks a liitle bit okay, because he has mild acne and by using this soap, a kind of non-irritating, he gets back his look. I never use this soap as facial cleanser but I enjoy my bath by using this soap.
Canes Girl 05/28/2002
this is not a bar of soap - its a bar of cream!!!!!
jjjjjjjjjjjj 11/13/2001
it smells good

it works great
Munson 06/01/2001
Because it is sensitive and not abrasive, I use Dove strictly to wash my face. And since it isn't sitting in the shower and is only used at night to wash my face, it doesn't get mushy and fall apart as quickly as it otherwise would (a key to longevity is to let it dry in a soap dish and not put it in an enclosed container like a travel soap dish). As a result, the big bars last a fairly long time.
SamIAm 05/31/2001
I am really torn on Dove. It was always a staple in my grandparents house, and for some reason I feel like it is a luxurious soap. However, I can't stand how it turns into mush while sitting in the soap dish, and forget about leaving it in the shower, it seems to melt away and leave half of the bar in a sticky gooey mess in the dish. However, I do like the scent and I like the way it cleans without drying out my skin. However, I don't buy it..therefore it is OK in my book.
CastleBee 05/25/2001
This is an old staple and family favorite but I have never really liked the smell of this soap. I also don't like the way it leaves my skin feeling as though it has never totally rinsed off. The times I have used it, it left me with a kind of "icky" slick feeling. It also isn't the best when it comes to deodorant protection. I know there are many people who will disagree - my own mother being one of them. She loves the ability Dove has to moisturize and wouldn't use anything else. Just a difference in perception I guess.
