I would rank this similar to Caress. It is pretty much a competitor to Dove that is a similar formula in that it is moisturizing and feels the same on your skin. However, it has a light scent (lighter than Caress) that is pleasant. However, I think Dove is superior as a moisturizer.

After reading so many positive reviews on the Oil of Olay with Shea Butter soap, I bought a 2-pack for myself to try it. I have been having a great deal of trouble finding a soap that doesn't make my skin react, so I was hopeful this might be a good soap for me.Unfortunately, I had to stop using it. I have a severe skin condition that is some sort of auto-immune disease. Perhaps severe eczema, but more likely something different as it's systemic and not like regular eczema. I was hoping this soap would be good for my skin, after reading the reviews from people with psoriasis and eczema.First of all, the scent is VERY strong and overpowering. That was the first alarm bell. I cannot usually tolerate soaps with fragrance, having problematic skin. Tone was about the only one that used to work well for me, as the fragrance is very mild. But Oil of Olay with Shea Butter is not a mild fragrance! It's very strong, and so powerful an odor I can still smell it in my bathroom, inside of a drawer, inside of a sealed box! That made me psychologically uncomfortable with the soap. But I was willing it give it a try, since what really mattered was whether it was good for my skin. I tried it for either a few or several days in a row, I don't remember the exact number of days. But it didn't take long to stop using it. Although it has some ingredient (probably the shea butter among others) that makes it glide on very easily, and is slippery; it still also sort of dried out my skin. It seemed to coat my skin in the shower with this oil, and I could feel that my skin was 'slick' to the touch after I had dried. It was a weird sensation, because it wasn't a natural smooth feeling. It felt more like I had been coated with something slick, but the skin itself was still leathery and dry. More than it normally would have been. I did not have a comfortable, satisfied, 'feel good' reaction to this soap after using it in the shower every night. It made me feel uncomfortable, and the drier skin was not a benefit as it was itchy. But I was still 'testing' it, hoping to use up the first bar of soap to give it a good test run. Unfortunately, I had to abruptly stop using it. Along with the problems mentioned above, I suddenly got a very noticeable rash in the shower while using it. On my chest, it was itching greatly and I barely scratched the skin and a huge rash flooded to the surface, with large bands covering a large area. This is NOT normal for my skin condition, and is usually only caused by products or drugs/chemicals. I knew right away I could not tolerate Oil of Olay with Shea Butter soap.I immediately stopped using it, and threw the rest of the bar out. I still have the second bar in a box until I can donate it somewhere. (And it's still smelling the bathroom up!).If you don't have extremely sensitive skin, or any skin problems or conditions, this soap might work for you if you aren't allergic to strong fragrances. But my own experience was pretty negative, and I would not recommend this soap to people with skin conditions and/or sensitive skin. I don't know what caused the acute rash, but it was definitely something in the soap. This is of course only my experience and my reaction, and I am sensitive/allergic to a lot of products and drugs.

Haven't used it in a long time, as I use more of the shower gels now. But as I can recollect, Oil of Olay was a pretty good bar soap.

I love the Olay fresh reviving bar soap. It leaves your skin feeling fresh and clean, without being too harsh. The scent is light, yet noticable, and very elegant. After only a few days, I noticed how much softer my skin was and how I carried the scent of Olay with me. This soap is great, but a little expensive.

I used the Oil of Olay bar soap for years, but now they discontinued what they had and starting making a new one (with shea butter). I tried it and don't like the smell at all! Its overwhelming. I loved the original one and now i'm in the process of finding a new soap after all these years. I dont even think I will make it through the multipack that i bought! Why do companies mess with a good thing? Geesh...

The new formulations are horrible. The old sensitive skin bars were quite good but you can't get them anymore. The new soaps make your skin feel dry and waxy and the scents are very strong and noxious. I am looking for a new brand.

I used this for a short time. Pretty good for softening dry skin.

I love Olay soap. No soap compares to it in the price range. Yes, Olay soap is expensive for what used to be known as middle-class, but it is worth every penny. It is smooth and creamy, and does not leave a ring in the bath tub. Thanks Olay! Wadine Toliaferro

I have semi dry skin and have used both dove and olay, they both seem to work well for me. However....I wish I could remember which olay I used that had such a fantastic scent, every shower I was really blown away by the fresh smelling scent. (It's a great way to wake up!) Can anyone tell me which olay it was? I would be greatful. Hoistin2000@yahoo.com

I recently visisted the states and purchased the oil of olay soap with shea butter and it is the best soap I have ever used, I have had soooo many comments on how soft my skin is. I am back in England now and can not find this soap anywhere, does anyone know a website or where I can get it from in England?

Like anything else out there - it either works or it doesn't. For me it does. I have combination skin(t-zone oily, rest is dry)and somehow it works. Smells plesant as well.

I really wish that the Pink Oil of Oley soap was still available. Does anyone know why they discontinued it? I have been using that soap for about 30+ years now and it was wonderful. My complexion is smooth and zit free. Please bring back the pink oil of olay soap. I can't find anything else that is even close to that.

To let you know that i have other favorite bars of soap: Dove (white bar and sometimes the pink), Caress (original peach bar), Oil of olay (Beige Bar), i loved the pink oil of olay, but that one was discontinued, that pink bar of olay did Wonders for my skin!! i miss that bar soap!!

Use this for body ONLY! Not for the face...Unless you want a film left behind which clogs pores and causes breakouts...your choice.

I am a guy with very sensitive skin ,who used caress bar soap for over 20 years and became that way, skin was very sensitive towards the sun. When I did used caress bar soap towards the ends I had to bath in cold water because my skin was rejecting hot water. When the caress bar was discontinued here in Canada, I started to use oil of olay bar soap for regular skin. Have been using it now for a month, and am slowly getting used to the sun near evening, an hour before sunset without sunblock 45+. I haven't sunburned at all. A miricle soap

Coming from a guy, I must say this the best damn soap out there. I have dry skin that gets blotchy if I don't use the right product. I started out using a sponge with body wash. That worked well until I found out how much bacteria was breeding in the sponge, highly unsanitary. I finally got myself to try Olay, and man was I happy. My skin, and complextion have greatly improved and I have never had that problem again. Olay is serious stuff, if you don't need it, buy the cheaper soap.

I am a male who has very dry skin at times and I asked a female friend for her honest advice for dry skin while showering/bathing......she returned the following day with 2 bars of Olay Ectra Dry Skin with Shea Butter......I tried one and I am really impressed
kolby1973 12/28/2003
Oil of Olay is full of oil, there is no doubt about that ! I really tried hard to love this product, because so many of my friends hyped it up. It just wasn't really good, and did absolutely nothing for my skin...

For a grocery store soap, I've found Oil of Olay to be the best. It is simple and does not leave a slimy residue.
Irene115 09/12/2003
I love Oil of Olay soap. I switch off between that and Dove. Both do the same thing, make my skin soft, lather well and rinse well, great scents. Don't like Caress much though, it's oiler and perfumier.
sunrats 08/23/2003
This soap is great...the bar doesnt disapear so fast as some soap does and it makes my skin feel smooth. The cost is a bit high however

It does have a nice smell and it does leave my skin feeling soft, but it doesn't seem to really make me feel fresh and clean all day long.
afterglow70 06/13/2001
This is really good soap. I have used it for a couple of years and it has never let me down. I have dry skin and it puts a some moisture in it. I don't have to totally douse myself w/ lotion when I get out of the shower. The scent is nice too. It is a little more expensive but worth it.
