Al McGuire coached Belmont Abbey from 1957-64 before becoming the head coach for Marquette. Al McGuire led Marquette to the NIT championship in 1970 and to an NCAA championship in 1977. One of very few coaches to win both the NIT and NCAA tournaments. His Marquette teams appeared in 11 straight postseason tournaments and won the national championship in McGuires last game as head coach. His career coaching record is 404-144(.737) and his NCAA tournament record is 20-9(.690).
