
Haskins coached UTEP from 1961 until 1999. As head coach he reached legendary status when he started 5 black players against a formidable all white Kentucky team in the 1966 NCAA championship game. His Texas Western team(now called UTEP) won that game and changed the face of college basketball forever. Although the 1966 team was his only championship he made the NCAA tournament 14 times and finished with a record of 14-13(.519). Haskins career record is 719-353(.671).
