 | nesher (11) 04/14/2008 | It is important for US and Western World! It is very important! At the moment, Israel, Afganistan, and Iraq are accummulating the terrorist activities of the extremists. Unfornately, Israel is the only true supporter in Middle East, and the only democracy there. If the country falls, the bloody 9-11 will spread around the world.

 | ILikePie (50) 03/09/2008 | The US has made it important. Not only have they got themselves involved, but they've also exacerbated the problem. Had they kept their noses out, there wouldn't be as big an issue for them.

 | CanadaSucks (47) 12/16/2005 | The most important but least understood issue in our culture. . .it is downright hilarious to listen to Americans (who have no international experience) ramble on and on about what they think should be done about cultures thousands of years old in places where they have never seen. . .it's like listening to a 5 year old give me his opinion on the theory of relativity. .. .

 | GenghisTheHun (171) 10/08/2005 | This is the greatest mistake since the end of the Cold War. We are in a bottomless mire, and there is no end to the conflict. Would someone please send the "powers that be" a common history book?
Look at all the historical groups that have "broken their teeth" in the Middle East. In modern times, consider the Turks, the British, the French, even the Soviets. The Italians dabbled but never were there long enough to harm themselves. The Spanish engaged in five centuries of warfare with North Africa.
Even the Arab invaders broke into feuding and warring factions. Before them the Persians, Parthians, Romans, Byzantines and many others came to grief.
Why is the United States so different from any other imperial power? The Iraqis don't like us any better than they liked the Turks, or the British, or their native rulers for that matter.
Democracy has not worked anywhere in the Middle East and shall not work in the immediate future.
Israel is fighting a long, but probably losing fight. It must win every battle. The Arabs only have to win one battle. History shows that no civilization wins every battle or loses every battle.

 | LadyShark4534 (12) 04/20/2004 | We should not barge into other people's wars. Palestine and Israel need to do this on their own. It's a war that is none of our business. Only Palestine and Israel can stop it themselves.

 | minkey (36) 04/20/2004 | Imagine if Palestinians said, 'O.K., we give California to Canada,' said Michael Tarazi, a legal adviser for the Palestine Liberation Organization. Americans should stop wondering why they have so little credibility in the Middle East.

 | ClassicTVFan47 (37) 03/15/2004 | Eventually, the middle east will come together in peace. Palestine and Israel will become allies in a united European Hegemony, part of the United Earth Nations. Its too bad we can't do more to fight the few suicide kooks that are overthere trying to destroy peace.

 | BIGBABY (10) 02/24/2004 | We should have never gotten involved in the first place. Here we have two fanatical groups that just hate one another, want to see the other side die, and refuses to compromise at all. This was none of our business, but we got involved. Now that we are involved, we should implement steps toward peace in the Mid East. Pressure must be put on Arafat. He was offered his own state a few years ago where we would have recieved 95% of what he wanted. He refused it because he only exists too kill as many as Jews as possible. Blowing up Israeli busses isn't going to win your indepandance. Its committing your suicide. Frankly, I'm stunned that these people throw rocks at one of the largest armies in the world. When it comes down to it, both Israel and Palestinian leaders must sit down and make a compromise. However, as long as there are terrorists in Palestine, and Arafat remains in power, there will never be peace. However, I also support the theory of survival of the fittest. Israel conquered that land, and now its theres. We had to fight for our independance, let the Palestinians fight for thiers. It does not matter that they were there first. That is irrelevant. That's like Native Americans demanding all of North America back! I would support a Palestine state, as long as it wasn't funding or being controlled by the terrorists it is now.
