Jerry Tarkanian holds the highest winning percentage by any college coach (about .800). He has a national title and four final four appearances. What most people do not know (because its not popular in the press or NCAA) is that he filed suit against the NCAA and won 2.5 Million in the late 90's!

Great coach questionable style

Coaches' greatest accomplishments are many. There is and always will be a little piece of the man in everyone of his players. He has helped many through the years and all his basketball teams have come away with something good about themselves. Iam very proud to have played and learned from Tark in 1967.

Yeah, it's pretty easy to win when you buy players....

He won by breaking the rules.

Tark was a good. He did all coaches a favor by speaking up against the NCAA. He was wrongly harrassed by the NCAA. Four final fours in 25 years is pretty impressive, especially doing it at a school that had no history other than a small run to the NCAA small schools final four right before Jerry came on the scene. If it wasn't four some blantantly unfair officiating in 1977 and 1991, Tark would have three titles to his name.....as it is, the man's team left officiating out of the equation by blowing Duke off the floor in 1990 to break the margin of victory record in the title game.
