Close-up was one of the very first toothpastes with mouthwash and it's still my favorite. The silica abrasive is fairly gentle too, unlike some of the more aggressive "whitening" toothpastes that have come along since. Good value all-around too: it costs a few cents LESS (about $2.50 for the large 7.2oz size at Walgreen's) than most brands; you have to buy a drug chain's house brand to get a better deal. Though taste is a purely subjective matter, there is no sugar in the product. It is sweetened with saccharin.

I've used Close-Up for years. It's pretty good, does in fact whiten your teeth a bit and is good for freshening the breath. The only thing I don't like is the strong taste. Mint or the original red have an overpowering taste and there's also too much sugar in the formula. Still like it though.

Used it once, never saw the big deal with it really, it's just standard toothpaste that cost a few cents more.
