Very significant figure in late 60s/early 70s glam rock period. Powerful, cynical, and often offensive lyrics...but you can learn a lot by listening to them even if you don't necessarily agree with them ("Statue of Bigotry" for example)...

Deservedly in for his work with velvet underground there is plenty in his solo catalogue to warrant admission too. However for every Transformer and Coney Island Baby there is a Sally Can't Dance or a Metal Machine Music. I'm with Moose, New York and Magic and Loss are late career highlights. I suspect that most of the committee would think that seperate induction as a solo artist would be redundant.

I haven't liked all his solo wolrk, but the album "New York" is great! "Busload of Faith", "Hold On", "There Is No Time" and "Dirty Boulevard" are just some of its highlights. The following album, "Magic and Loss" was also good. He can also play some guitar.

HE IS IN THE HALL WITH vu

Obviously he performed fellatio on every notable Rock and Roll critic. And perhaps if theirs a Hall for that? But for music he is THE MOST CRITICALLY OVERATED ARTIST OF ALL-TIME!!!!

I'm a big fan. Deserving.

VU is one of the most important bands of all time and clearly belongs in, but I'm not so sure about Lou as a solo artist. Other artists from the Glam days deserve it more -- T.Rex, Stooges, New York Dolls.

Lou is hit or miss. He's made some great stuff alongside some absolute drivel. What the hell was the deal with that Metal Machine album? Overall based on the material that worked and the fact that he's a rebel I vote him in.

Lou's too cool for the rock and roll HOF. a constant combatant w/the rock press, Reed's imbalanced yet interesting career deserves close attention. I'd put him in.
