 | FranksWildYears (48) 04/16/2007 | Not in my book. When the score is entirely detirmined by judges or a panel of judges then its not a sport, its a competition. You don't see kids at the local rink doing tricks and determining amongst themselves who won.

 | numbah16tdhaha (147) 04/14/2007 | Eh, I don't really think this is a sport based on the judges giving an opinion on who is better and occasionally really screwing it up...

 | LadyJesusFan777 (33) 04/14/2007 | The skaters are athletes. I very definitely consider figure skating a sport.

 | Molfan (57) 04/19/2006 | maybe people are not chasing a ball around but this is a sport. it is harder than one may think. you have got to be pretty athletic to accomplish a lot of the moves. i like to watch it on occasion.

 | sfalconer (21) 03/13/2006 | I think if we look at the last Winter Olympics, it can be said that skating is not a sport. Like gymnastics it is closer to dancing than sport. Any thing that relys on one humanbeing judging an other can not be a sport.

 | Enkidu (37) 06/12/2004 | Mmmm... athletic, competitive, does the competition *have* to be simultaneous? You could add an extra star by inventing a simultaneous version with possibilities of collisions, unintended interactions, but it would probably be too weird for most people.

 | muppetlass87 (0) 06/12/2004 | Figure skating is definitely not a sport. It's just a bunch of people dancing and twirling around on ice in frilly outfits. I'm not saying that anyone could do it, but, come on, does it really count as a sport?

 | AndrewScott (71) 02/17/2004 | For those who consider this only partially a sport, I'm sure Tonya Harding would be happy to provide this clarification: Figure skating is a *whack!* demonstration of physical skills *whack* that is rated competitively by prescribed rules *whack!*, so it's considered a sport *whack!* *whack!* *whack!*

 | irishgit (137) 02/17/2004 | Sure, its a sport, but a disasterously flawed one. I have trouble with all the judged sports, and this one is the worst of the lot. Backroom politics that would be considered underhanded and deceitful by the Medici's, and athletes that are more often touted for their looks than their athleticism.
