i find this to be a pretty good toothpaste, although I don't use it regularly. I ise Crest instead. It has a decent flavor, but I feel the actual cleaning power was stronger than Crest. Although if you want fresher breath, use Crest. For the cleaning power, use Colgate.

I use Colgate Total because my dental hygienist recommended it because it fights gingivitis in addition to cavities and plaque. It is not harsh at all. It freshens breath with a cool, minty flavor. I prefer the mint gel as opposed to the white paste, but that is a matter of personal preference.

this toothpaste is the best in the market. it is ADA approved. i only like to use the one that is white paste that comes in a blue box and says whitening. during my two and a half years of using braces this was the best. my ortho was amazed at how clean my teeth where because of this. it reduces the inflammation of the gums, gingivitis, whitens and keeps my teeth strong. do not use in conjunction with act mouthwash also ada approved if you are a heavy coffee or tea, wine drinker, because it does not help with the staining. i am a heavy tea drinker and this one helps when used alone

I've been reading up on the ingredient in Colgate T otal called "Triclosan" and apparently it is toxic to humans when combined with chlorine in tap water, that's in large amount..but we already use Triclos an more than we think , putting it in your mouth do esn't seem like a good idea. I'm now using Crest wi th Scope and it works great.

Colgate is now sold at a dollar store and for a good reason! It doesn't clean like all those other toothpastes: arm & hammer, crest, auqafresh...they all act like a mouthwash and should not be called toothpastes. I recommend everybody to use sensodine, that's better than most products they have on the market now.

Colgate Total is tried and proven and is now the only toothpaste that I buy. It is one of only a few toothpastes that contain triclosan which is very effective in preventing tooth decay.

Great Toothpaste. Tastes good, and leaves teeth feeling the most clean of any toothpaste. Good aftertaste as well

Totally the best as they were right about 12 hour protection. I did drink coffee after brushing once and I saw that they didn't change color. I trust this dental company and they know teeth very well. Who came up with this idea of a half a day protection toothpaste? I'd like to thank him/er.

very nice. Cleans teeth with a fresh feel. I have noticed whiter teeth! My dentist recommended it and I'm glad he did!

I think the Crest multi-care is a lot better, and does the same thing

Colgate Total leaves my mouth feeling minty fresh..feels very clean. The taste doesn't wear off as quickly as some other brands do.

This is the best tasting toothpaste I've ever used. It gets my teeth really clean and doesn't give me that weird feeling in my mouth that you get with the baking soda stuff.

(by ConsumerSearch.com) Experts recommend Colgate Total more often than any other toothpaste. According to both the Food and Drug Administration and the American Dental Association, this was the first toothpaste on the market to include the antibacterial ingredient triclosan, which has been proven effective for fighting gum disease (gingivitis). Total contains another ingredient - gantrez - that allows triclosan to remain active between brushings, even after you eat or drink.

I would like to talk about one thing I noticed on my Colgate Total tube, the flip-up cap. I believe these flip-up caps are not as convienent as people think. With twist-off caps, the toothpaste is contained inside the tube by the pressure of the cap, but with flip-up caps, the toothpaste inside is not contained. It ends up getting stuck all underneath the cap, causing it to get on your fingers when opening the tube. I find this irritating and would just like to say that I prefer the twist-off caps over flip-ups.
