I think this really does whiten your teeth and it is not as harsh as the baking soda-based whitening toothpastes or others that have a very gritty texture. It has a clean, fresh taste. I personally do not use it because people with sensitive teeth are not supposed to use whitening products, but before I knew that I used it because it is an ADA accepted whitening product.

(by ConsumerSearch.com) Three reviewers choose Crest Extra Whitening with Tartar Protection as one of their top picks, and this paste performed well in tests for overall cleaning ability and fluoride release. Unlike Colgate Total, Crest Extra Whitening with Tartar Protection has not been proven effective in fighting gingivitis, but experts say that it is the best choice for folks who need tartar protection and don't like the taste or texture of a baking soda toothpaste.
