Chick-Fil-A is a transcendent dining experience? Whoa, its greasy sub-standard chicken, nothing really supernatural or anything like that. Does your soul leave your body after you eat this stuff? Maybe it's a bad case of food poisoning. That's something you don't want to happen on a date. But really, I think that going to a restaurant for a first date is a good idea. Just make sure that you find out what the girl likes to eat. Take her someplace she wants to go, you don't want her to eat at a place she detests. Yes, things can go wrong here on a first date, but it can happen anywhere else. It's the company that matters, not the food or service, unless if it's Chick-Fil-A where you're planning on taking her! Make sure it's a sit down place you're going.

In my opinion, a bad idea for a first date. Too much stuff to go wrong, and add to the nervousness and tension that is always there on a first date.

ClassicTVFan, I know we come from different generations, but even if I were 20 years younger I might want to go somewhere nicer than Chic Fil a for a first date. I would probably at least want to go to a halfway decent pizza place. UPDATE: Pizza Hut would be good. They have the best pizza.

Good, but the choice of restaurants is cruicial. As always, upper-class fast food such as the transcendent Chick-Fil-A is always an option. There are also a few satisfactory slow food restaurants such as the underrated Friendly's. Don't however, take a date to a boringly-designed, alcohol-laced, terribly-seasoned-food place like Fridays or Houlihan's. But, overall, restaurants allow you to spend money on your date, and have a conversation and get to know each other without too much pressure. Great for follow-up dates as well. UPDATE: Responding to scarletfeather, I would just like to say that I find most of those nicer places overpriced and extremely boring and uncreative in design, not to mention full of drab advertisements. And, I wouldn't disapprove of a nice pizza place--Pizza Hut rocks!

A good place to talk. I believe communication is vital in relationships. I've learned that from past experiences. And if the food is good, you're all set! ( Hint:That means, don't go to McDonalds!)
