What immigration reform? Bush has refused to do almost anything to enforce our laws. He hasn't created new ones, and quite frankly, they aren't necessary. Our illegal immigration problem will be resolved if the government will simply do its job. Deport when violators are brought into custody by law enforcement and prosecute employers of undocumented workers = Problem Solved. The idea/concept that 11 to 15 million people need to be physically deported and is, therefore, impossible is a fallacious argument. Cut off the magnets of employment and taxpayer funded benefits (such as public education, gratis emergency room care, financial assistance, etc.) and much of the illegal alien population will leave voluntarily and head for greener pastures. The current situation simply exploits and endangers law-abiding American taxpayers and legal residents. They are the ones who pay the bill so corporations can have the next best thing to slave labor.

We have nearly 15 million illegal aliens in this country. I remember about 15 to 20 years ago here in New Jersey in a town called Palisades Park, seeing about 10 to 15 men standing on a corner, over the years it grew, I saw as many as 100 one day and of course noticed they were Spanish, so when I asked about them I found out they were waiting to be picked up by contractors and others for daily work. There numbers grew and grew till the town under pressure gave them a building to wait in. However the numbers were now nearing 400 plus. Besides the fact that business in this town was being hurt, people were growing afraid of them and it almost destroyed the town. I found out they also were costing the town and other towns a fortune in free health care and the schools were getting 100s of children who couldn't speak a word of English. These people were of course ILLEGAL ALIENS and as I looked further into it over 18 p/c of them ended up in jail, this figure 18 p/c is now a national figure for illegal Mexicans, 18 p/c end up in jail. So here we are with 15 million ILLEGALS and some want to give them amnesty, with rights even Americans don't get, lie being able to attend any college in any state even if they don't live in that state and be accepted as a resident. The bill now in the Senate on the surface seems great, but its just filled with loop holes and won't solve the problem of immigration and it sends the word that America will give amnesty sooner or later if you just come here. If we pass this bill it has to be written in such a way that they will come forward, yet,it puts them at the end of the line in getting citizenship and demand they pass the rules we set up over a ten year period. Then we must triple the border guards, build walls and have a return policy that simple, one that takes 1 to days not 21 as it is now.Tellling us that they take jobs we don't want is a lie, the folks I talked to almost 80 p/c were getting 100 dollars a day to be carpenters and other jobs that any out of work American would give his right arm to have, sure some were getting 40,50 a day, but it was a job, and many here would still take it over nothing. We cannot give amnesty, we must make the bill tough, so we can stop future aliens from coming here just to wait for the next amnesty. This was not written very well and I am sorry for that, but to put all of what I really think down in writing would take me a week, with my 1 finger typing and racing mind,I just wanted to say the bill in the Senate as written is a nightmare for us,and it cannot pass as is,or it will hurt this country so bad in years to come when the economy goes bad that its almost impossible to grasp here and now ....... second thought as far as i can see we will become a 3rd world nation if we dont boot the 20 million+illegals now here,as they tax our health care and other benefit programs, notto mention 19 p/c of them are in jail, another 20,000 known molestors, and up to 50,000 possibly hezbelloh according to fox news......imagine what would happen when our economy turns, and it will with a 10 trillion deficit rd1064

Our immigration policies over the last 30 years have been an abysmal failure. They've actually done the exact opposite of what should be done: expedite immigration for acceptable individuals and limit the tide of illegal immigration from waves of nation invaders. Exploitation? Cheap labor? WHAT? Why are they here then succumbing to such exploitation? And what exactly constitutes "cheap labor"? OH yeah some arbitrary number a liberal places on a job that they think they are so brilliant they'll be able to come up with... like say those market planners in the former USSR! What a panacea market planning was for exploitation! Work at the wrong end of a weapon or else. The reality is market forces allow for labor to be purchased fairly in free societies. Liberals are opposed to freedom of choice of course- unless it's the choice to slaughter your unborn child- and have the hubris to believe they can pick a rate for labor that is "fair". If that's true then why shouldn't everyone just be paid a million bucks a year? I mean if it's up to me that's what I think would be "fair"! And you know what... we'll just take it from the "rich" what the hell do they need it for anyhow? Yeah that should work!

Bush's effort in this respect is admirable and I believe he was right. Unfortunately, politically, it was doomed to fail because the paleo-cons who dominate much of his voting block were jumping ship and the libs fail to understand how limiting illegal immigration is a vital security issue.

I am getting so sick of hearing about this and the protests today are an abomination....there are millions of undocumented (ILLEGAL) immigrants in this country. Illegals flock to this country to make their lives better, but by not going through proper channels, like immigrants did at the turn of the century (and as immigrants from non-Latin countries are doing), what is the purpose of having rules? Are rules/laws just meant to be broken, so companies can get a cheap labor pool and not pay legal immigrants or AMERICANS slightly more? CORPORATIONS WHO HIRE UNDOCUMENTED IMMIGRANTS MUST BE FINED AND NOT JUST GET SLAPPED ON THE WRIST. There must be accountability! I know a woman from Ivory Coast, who speaks FOUR languages and fled to the U.S. while people were shooting at her and her family...this woman speaks perfect English, has a job as a dental assistant, and is trying to save money to go to dental school....HOWEVER because of some BS "red tape" she forgot to fill in ONE blank of her immigration form. The Gov is now sending her letters threatening to kick her and her family out of the country. And millions of illegal Latin aliens want to be automatically declared legal? It's enough to turn my stomach. Immigrants that do not assimilate (mainly they are illegal, but some legals too) devalue property (some bring gangs to their new American towns--small towns in VA, MD and DE that I'm familiar with, that have not seen homicides in decades, recently had several homicides by machete because of these people). They refuse to learn English, and why should they? Se Hapla Espanol on all customer service recordings and on boxes of laundry detergent now. Their children (which are NUMEROUS--households of eight children and more in some apartments in my complex), because of the language and culture barrier, are slow in school, and as a result SLOW the learning of American kids. My sister had to pull her kids out of a public elementary school in her town and have them bussed to another school in the next town because of this. I could go on and on....the strain on health services. The fact that they take jobs Americans "will not do" is pure propaganda from Dubya. Americans WILL do the jobs if they offered the benefits and salary (that is, minimum wage or above) that the "meet and eat" executives make. The wrong people are protesting today (April 10, 2006). Middle Class America needs to be protesting! Not illegal immigrants.
