Founded in the 2nd Century BC, Antalya contains several ruins from the Hellenistic Period. Antalya is located on the bay of the south Mediterranean coast of Turkey. Once know as Adalia, Antalya is considered the “capital of Turkish tourism” because of its many ruins, and the combination of Byzantine and Roman architecture found in the city’s old town. Antalya is also near or founded around the ancient cities of Lycia, Pamphylia, and Pisidia.
