I have carefully calulated and found the oceans would be approximately .0009 inches shallower 'cause sponges have some mass of their own.

Try this for yourself: put a sponge in a jar, fill it with water and mark the water line. Then, remove the sponge. The water line will have dropped. When the Sierra Club discovered this, they teamed up with Greenpeace and the Gore Foundation and have been removing sponge colonies at a feverish pace to offset the effects of Global Warming. This was Al's idea...

How much deeper would my pockets be if there were no sponges around me?

The depth of the ocean is not dependent on how much rubbish we put in it. The ocean depth is already determined ie it is the depth of the land that the water is sitting on which determines how deep it is. Besides, the ocean is so big even if you did put all this rubbish in it, the only thing you would notice is dead fish.

How about How much land would there be if there weren't sponges at the bottom of the ocean?
