I have really enjoyed this season of Commander in Chief, and I'm very disappointed in ABC's decision to cancel it. Had they not switched its time slot three times and put it against the most successful TV show in recent American History, I think the ratings would have turned out much better. I doubt Lost could have competed with American Idol. This show has a tremendous amount of potential, and I hate that we will never get to see it. As a side note, I have to wonder why I get involved with ABC dramas--this is the second one (that I've watched) in as many years to be cancelled before the first season ended.

I look forward to this show all week. I like the way Madam President manages people and the way she carries herself. I want to see Mackenzie win over Washington and win her election. Please don't cancel this interesting and intelligent show. Thank you in advance for cooperating with me. :)

Don't try to push your political junk down America's throats and call it entertainment. It's sad. How long are you going to let this ridiculous series limp along because of your hopes of brainwashing the American public? Do your job. It's not your job to "shape our minds..."

With the first episode of Commander in Chief, FINALLY there was a thinking persons' positive attitude of a political drama. It was refreshing to see how a woman would handle America's #1 job along with her real-life responsibilities. Geena Davis is just perfect for the role of the first woman president. The complete ensemble is EXCELLENT. I wonder if ABC execs were either afraid or paid off to bump "Commander" episodes in favor of alternative programming. It's hard to watch your favorite show when you can't find it! In no way does this first-rate program deserve the treatment it has received. All my friends watch and love it. GET SOME GUTS, MICKEY!!!!!!

Really lame show. I like intelligent, thoughtful shows which is why this stupid soap opera doesn't cut it. Pathetic "West Wing" wannabe without the great policy issues and the cutting dialogue. In this show the plots are stupid and the dialogue is second rate. It began its stupidity when the President's own daughter was not going to her swearing in because she has a different political viewpoint. Is that not the dumbest thing ever? Sure MOm you may be President but I'd rather sit at home and hope your opponents defeat you. Unfortunately the show went downhill from there. Its apparently going to be cancelled -- Botchko has left and it was put on hiatus while they try to revive sagging ratings. Adios.

I loved this show. Maybe the ratings got lower because of the date and time slot. Ought to change that. There are SO many other shows on that are so stupid they insult your intelligence and this one was so great.

This was my VERY favorite show of the New Season! The family issues, to me, have interfered more with the plot of the show than I would like with the teenage children, but loved the addition of Suzanne Pleshette as the Grandma. What I did not, and DO NOT, like... is ABC putting this show on Hiatus so they can try some additional shows. I didn't like it when you did it with NYPD Blue either, and would turn off the programs because I was being denied the opportunity to watch my program of choice. Its blatant using of your loyal audience, and I won't play that game. The addition of Steven Botchko to the staff can't be anything but good, as NYPD Blue, and.. The Practice were my two favorite shows before this. I liked West Wing as well, but... now we are losing IT! PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW.. Surely ... SURELY you wouldn't do such a foolish thing. I will be a CBS devotee almost entirely. I also like Boston Legal, but thats because it rolled over from the Practice, with James Spaaden and Tara (don't know her real name) bringing a crowd with them. Hated to see Tara go, but... Candice Bergen and William Shatner et al make for a very interesting, and though not quite believeable, very funny cast. Like Michael J. Fox's presence also... am hoping he will stay. sheila

Don't cancel this show! What with shows with people speaking to the dead, family shows about silly stuff, and shows with cops and doctors, this show rises above. Keep it at a time when people can find it weekly (not two weeks on and two weeks off),and it will find it's niche.

1. Do not cancel this show, especially for some more brain-dead comedies. I get more laughs from this serious show than from any comedy on TV. 2. Lighten up on the melodrama. Realistic portrayal of days in the life of the WH family work best without overblowing the events. 3. We should be past the female issue by now, and you should stop repeatedly trying to prove that a woman can be president. It'll get thin soon. You win, already. 4. With crime dramas filling the drama space on TV, it's nice to have an intelligent alternative. Just don't pander to the 80 IQ crowd. If The West Wing could be intelligent and succeed, so can you. 5. In case I didn't say so, DON'T CANCEL THIS SHOW and make another "Star Trek Mistake."

I really like the show and have been annoyed for the past few weeks with it being bumped by specials, whether the music awards or Barbara Walters (who I also like very much). Can't they find another show to bump? This was has been building in filling in the background, and it's really unnerving to have that dramatic broken for several weeks at a time.... Natasha Thomsen

One of the most erudite and relevant shows to come along in a very long time. From the overriding themes to the little subtle touches (like the first mother-- a widow-- reading Joan Didion's new offering _The Year of Magical Thinking_) this is a show of intelligence and sophistication. It is the one show I will not miss, even if I have to tape it.

Latest ratings have it 7-9-13-17th and now OUT OF TOP 20. When hollywood can figure out to put a feminist movie on withoput all the obvious political bias they may have a hit. Pretty pathetic to show a bunch a white men portrayed as weak. I mean take a look at the men that surround her. 5'7" or smaller. Come on morons were smarter than THAT.

The show really captured my interest, thought it to be one of the best new show this season, however, the Husband needs to go!!! The last episode where he cried about not being a part of the administration was enough to make me change channels. I believe you should produce a show where there is an assasination attempt on the President and hubby takes the hit, let him linger a couple of shows then bury him. His character sucks!

I don't usually watch this type of show. I've never been one to tolerate one hour drama's very well, would rather be watching CNN. I've never been a big Geena Davis fan and I've always despised Donald Sutherland, probably because he's always a sinister bastard in his roles. I guess that says something for his acting ability if he's able to make you hate him. But I thought I'd give it a shot anyhow just to see how Geena Davis might pull this off. I love it! I think she's at an age now where she is really coming into her own and this role is has been waiting for her to get to an age or maturity where she can play it well. I really love this show!

This was a great show. I so many ways it is a refreshing change for Hollywood. I am one of those 'right-wing conservative freaks" that the left keeps calling us, and I found the independent position a great departure from the norm. I was a little concerned when I heard that one of Hilary's lackies was writing the show. But, so far that bent has not shown up. All I can say is if this is to prepare the country for a run by Hilary in '08 then all the Republicans have to do to defeat her is make up a bunch of signs that say "you ain't no Mackensie Allan" or "your no Gena Davis." Huge mistake on Hilary's team to allow them to cast the first female president as younger and more beautiful than Hilary could ever hope to achieve. I Will set the DVR to record this for now, thankfully it is easier to work than my VCR was.

This show is going to continue to be worth watching. Keep in mind the first few episodes of a new series tend to be a bit laborious due to the setting up so much expostion - especially a show as industrious as CIC. . . Some characters appear more 'in command' of their roles than others yet. Not to worry. They've not begun to reach their stride. Thanks, ABC, for a serious/fun quality show. Hope you have a LONG run with this one!

I thought it was full of flaws and lacked attention to detail. Go back and watch them trying to save the President. They were shocking his Liver instead of his Heart. No wonder he died!! I was really excited about this new show and hoped it would have a smart and snappy script. I found it to be more Soap Opera than Drama. It wasn't horrible, but I gave it one star due to my high expectations and the mediocre result.

Abysmal; probably couldn't have been worse. From the tacky captions of persons' names and positions to the pedestrian script to the pathetic direction and lackluster acting... Oh, wait, it could have been worse; they could have cast someone other than Donald Sutherland... and the guy playing the teenage son was good. I find it VERY strange that the moderator of this list would simultaneously bray how proud he or she is that he or she did NOT watch the show, and then go on to slam it. I also find it strange that others slam the show as a bald attempt to pave the way for Hillary Clinton to be president. Somebody better tell Condi Rice and Liddy Dole that theyre not allowed to think about running for the job because theyre Republican. ;-) Goodness sakesWATCH THE SHOW!!! The entire premise is that a REPUBLICAN chose Mac Allen as his VP in the first place!!! How that gets twisted into this show being a leftist propaganda screed is beyond me. Anyway, as for the premier itselfI loved the first half because the writing was sharp and the characterizations very interesting. The writing in the second half got fairly cheesy and clichéd, but the acting remained strong. If they put more focus on consistent writing and plot, this will be very entertaining and interesting. If they dont, it probably wont last Its unlikely that the shows creators are dummies. They will get more long-term mileage and interesting plots out of exploring the intrigues of having an *independent* as president than they can with anything elsethe gender stuff will be secondaryand (to my eye) the most interesting gender twists and turns are there in the Secor/First Hubby plotlines.

I caught this show last night and was so impressed with the acting and subject matter. I love the fact that there hasn't been a show like this ever. It's very refreshing and I think Geena Davis is wonderful and perfect. Reminds you of why she won an Oscar. Donald Sutherland is perfectly evil in his role and left me anticipating more feuds between the two. And I also love the fact that it has a whole twist with her family. I can see her husband having issues with being the "First Lady". There is much more depth than I thought there would be. This is not the "West Wing". Even people who say they don't usually like these type dramas will find this show different. If you want to read a good review, check out The New York Times.com. 5 stars! Watch it once and you will see.

1 - brilliant decision to make VP Mackenzie Allen an independent, outside the beltway, character (it will always leave us guessing - what's she going to do next) 2 - and her military maneuvers were gutsy: she is not one of the "boys", she has a brain & Middle East expertise, and yes by golly she intends to use it 3 - nice touch adding Nathan Templeton as the antagonist pol determined to undermine the administration. The ultimate insider takes on the ultimate outsider. Yes!

Didn't watch it, and wouldn't. Hardly ever watched West Wing, and don't believe I've missed much except Hollywood softening the edges of a fictitious, left-wing liberal president for easier digestion by an audience of mostly political neophytes. I really enjoy the whiny, "Hhheeeyyy, we should give a woman a chance to be president. Men have screwed it up long enough. " As if gender somehow becomes the deterimining characteristic for smart, moral leadership. You had as close to a woman president as you're going to get in the near future in Bill Clinton, he of the quivering lip and phony tear on the cheek. And his nearly fatal weakness and incompetence in defending the US against known enemies. There are plenty of women in government, attempting to ascend to the top. Very few are successful but that's proportionate with how many enter politics in the first place. Only the strong survive, that will never change. It takes about 20 years of mistake-free posturing and good fortune to become a legitimate presidential candidate. During that run-up, any sex scandal is probably the death knell (or should be), no moral or confrontational weakness (of any kind) can be shown. There are a very, very few women who show anything near the wise discretion it takes to appeal to a majority of US voters. Here's my view: Ten years ago, it was "about time" we had a "black president," according to Hollywood and the mass media. Now, it's a "woman president. " We should elect a black because it's about time? We should elect a woman because it's about time? What about their qualifications? Experience? Track record of votes and affiliations? Personality? ELECTABILITY? Don't buy in to this "it's about time" B/S. It'll be about time when the American people judge that this candidate (who HAPPENS to be black, or female, or Catholic-remember that?) deserves more than half of the votes. Period. No TV show is likely to make Hillary MORE electable, or less shrill or less of a bleeding heart liberal than her undeniable background suggests, no matter how much her small-screen Hollywood campaign staff wants it.

What I've noticed is that most of the ratings here, so far, are either a 5 or a 1. This show touches on so many personal issues and biases for people that it's clearly reflected in their emotional expression in these ratings. People either love it or hate it. Clearly shows that America is also divided in the gender issue. Surprise surprise! Though it's no West Wing, it is a show that addresses issues that were overdue to be addressed. To those of you who get off on calling the show's premise of a woman becoming president a "fantasy", grow up, open your minds and give this new concept a chance. Lady Thatcher & Indira Ghandi and many other women in history made great contributions as leaders despite all the men who opposed them being in power. It's time that this "modern & progressive" country also give women a chance. Kudos to ABC for taking a lead in breaking out a new concept.

This show lacked the necessary passion and political poise to stand up again great Presidential work like TV's "West Wing" and films "An American President" Gena Davis was dull and lacked a quality of grace and presences for such a historic office. The shows theatrical feel is far from distinguished and lacks the intellectual ingenuity to become an upper echelon political drama. Such a historic plot deserves a better execution.
