Depends on the person and the actual size of the hoops. But I don't think ANYONE can pull off dinner plate-sized hoops, give it up...

My old secretary had a pair of these in the 80's, and I would throw pencils through them when she wasn't looking.

Actually, I think these are cute. A lot of the girls were wearing them when I was in high school. They seem to be making a comeback, only they're not as big this time around. But the shapes are still hoops, just the same.

they go with big hair in the 80s the dangling earrings now are more feminine to wear going out
