All of a sudden I feel real old because I'm probably the only person on RIA who remembers not only the TV show Hank but also some of the details. Hank Dearborn (played by the late Dick Kallman) was a college age guy whose parents were killed in a car crash when he was 15. In order to keep custody of his little sister Tina, Hank must prove that he is able to provide proper support. He also wants to get a college education but he does not have the money. Hank is dating the dean's daughter and every day she would give him a list of students who were absent that day and Hank would then diguise himself as the absent student and sit in on the classes. Hank worked at a variety of jobs many of which took place from his van and his clientele were the students at the university. He ran a dating service, drove an ice cream truck, ran a laundry service, a watch and shoe repair, a general store and a catering truck business. One side of Hank's van was the general store which offered everything from hammers to notebooks, the inside was his watch and shoe repair shop (and also where he kept his various disguises) and the other side of the van was his catering business. Hank would push a button and the side of the van would flip open like a catering truck. (complete with awning) Panels would flip open and out would come shelves filled with catering truck goodies, coffee urns, etc. The TV show ran for only one year (Sept 1965 / Sept 1966) and somewhere there is a car collector with a very unique catering truck / watch and shoe repair / general store / vehicle in their collection.
