 | bobfossil (0) 11/26/2005 | From purely a drummer's point of view, Dave Lombardo has been one of the very best of the past 20 years. He combines speed, power and ferocity with taste, skill and agility. His stamina and endurance are remarkable, also.
He pioneered the industry standard double-bass technique (or at least, made it viable in thrash metal) and inspired many a young drummer.
His work Slayer is fantastic (Raining Blood being his seminal track, in my opinion), however, his diverstity can be heard with Fantomas and the project he did with classical musicians on 'Vilvaldi: The Meeting.'

 | the icon of sin (0) 03/06/2005 | In my opinion the best real heavy metal drummer. In terms of balls-to-the-walls fills and craziness (something of the utmost importance in heavy metal) he cannot be beaten.

Hell, just get and listen to South of Heaven and Seasons in the Abyss by Slayer, he shows his divine form on these albums.
