sucks s@#t compared to the good punk bassists,like paul simonin,and he isn't even punk.2 year olds can play his basslines, and how anybody can say "mike is the best bass player in the whole wide world" doesnt make sense. compare him to jaco,geddy lee,entwhistle and even someone like Chris Wolstenholme from muse,who aint no Jaco,is i crap load better than Dirnt

I think that Mike Dirnts bass playing could be summed up in 1 word- Average. Green Day are one of my favourite bands, however i can put that aside and give a un-biased oppinion. In response to the other reviews, i would hardly call him the best bassist in the world when there have been phenominal players such as Jaco Pastorious and Bernard Edwards. However all this aside, i do love a good fender purist.

Mike dirnt's so damn intelligent... how he make every basslines sounds great yet simple... i like his style a lot and his style really influenced me... by the way, i'm from singapore n why hasn't green day tour in singapore?? But definite five stars for Mike...

I totally love Green Day but Mike Dirnt is far from the best bassist in the world he is good and i give him credit for that, but look at groups like Queen, Areosmith, Bon Jovi (ok bad example), The Clash, they have bassists that are has good has and better than mike dirnt, (ok i will admit however that i called my son mike after mike dirnt but that is anouther story)

I really don't see Green Day as a hard rock/metal band. Not at all. No siree. As for Dirnt, his basslines are simple and repetitive (bit like GD really) but he is admittedly better then competitors in the pop/punk genre. 3 stars = OK.
