I tasted a feijoa once off of an evergreen shrub, or maybe it was a small tree. It was terrible.

To be honest, I don't care a whole lot for the flavor. It's pretty good, but nothing to really write home about. Mostly, I like that I can get these for free from the hedge in front of my dorm.

The Feijoa (Feijoa sellowiana, synonym Acca sellowiana), also known as Pineapple Guava or Guavasteen, is an evergreen shrub or small tree, 17 metres (323 ft) in height, originating from the highlands of southern Brazil, parts of Colombia, Uruguay and northern Argentina.
