 | DoorGunner (18) 05/09/2006 | All of you haters of "big oil" are going to miss it when it's gone. Wind power is a joke when it comes to solving our massive energy needs. Can you say, "Nuke"?

 | EschewObfuscation (61) 05/08/2006 | Clean, cheap, readily available. But, any energy source which is dependent upon the weather will never overtake our current (no pun intended) sources.

 | DrEntropy (38) 03/17/2006 | Similar to solar, in that it is limited in application (to areas with constant high winds, like the North Sea). Also like solar, the materials costs would skyrocket if you seriously tried to replace the energy derived from coal/oil/gas with wind turbines. Finally, wind lacks the power density necessary to power dense human concentrations like London or NYC, short of covering all of England or New York State with turbines.

 | Thermo (0) 01/18/2006 | Wind power is an established & well tested and super optimized way of generating carbon neutral non polluting energy.

 | sfalconer (21) 11/21/2005 | Wind Power is very cheap and you usually put it where there is a lot of wind so space is not a problem. There are many ways that the bird and bat problem could be solved. Its clean the windmills are easy to maintain and it does not come with the hazards of other sources.

 | GenghisTheHun (168) 09/20/2005 | Here again we have a source that doesn't produce much power and the generators take up a lot of space for the amount of power produced. The resistance will be heavy to flooding the country with windmills.
A second big problem is the massacre of the songbirds when they migrate. These monstrosities are deadly to millions of them every year.
A final problem is at night the props destroy millions of bats who are out doing their thing and catching harmful insects.

 | Several Licks (0) 04/12/2005 | I'm greatly against the oil industry and for the enviorment but wind energy dosen't work well, kills MANY birds, and would take up a lot of room to build enough to power the U.S. off of.

 | excelsior30 (8) 02/17/2005 | Along with solar energy, we can live without wasting unrecyclable resources. Wind power is great to save oil and coal. It will also have the wildlife coexist with these big fans.
